We had the good fortune of connecting with Justin DiGiovanni and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Justin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
After a motorcycle accident that could have ended my life, my outlook on life changed. I wanted to capture the true beauty of the world, to make the viewer feel like they are right there next to me as I bring the image to life through the lens and camera. I wanted to carry these photographs back home to share with the world online and through prints with someone who might not have the opportunity to visit these places themselves and see it with their own eyes.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My photographs are immersive. Your eyes take a little journey throughout the images visiting and feeling every part of the scene. It could be the morning warmth of a beautiful sunrise or the howling winds up in the mountains in the middle of winter.

I’m proud of getting my photographs exactly the way I always dreamt they would be. That process was the work of learning the entire camera, training my eyes to look at the right composition, and using the tools on my computer to dial in smaller settings.

I got where I am today because I have consistently improved my work with each new client and project I have challenged myself with. I continue to learn new techniques to expand upon what I already know.

The most challenging parts about learning photography were the different books and manuals I read. It was a new and different language I had no knowledge about, but as time passed, hands on experience was the best and easiest method for me because I was able to take what I learned and apply it which was enjoyable.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way is that being self critical will make you a better photography because you always want to get the next best capture.

I want to remind the world that there is beauty all around us. Sometimes it takes seeing it from a different perspective which can vary with each photographer’s eye.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in Estes Park, Colorado and with Rocky Mountain National Park being ten minutes away, having packed the previous morning, I would wake you up at 3:00 am to start our day. We would drive into the park with no one on the road and the headlights of the vehicle would light the way through the winding roads leading into the mountains. We would arrive to the trailhead and make our ascent to the destination. There, we set up our cameras on the tripod and wait. When the sun finally arrives on the horizon, you will start to see the colors of autumn with a waterfall as a leading line. That is the moment when we start clicking the shutter button and capturing a gorgeous moment in time. Afterwards, we can head back into town to Coffee On The Rocks for a cup of coffee and to feed the ducks by the pond.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My beautiful and amazing wife, Valerie.
