We had the good fortune of connecting with Kael Morse and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kael, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
From a very young age, I was always told by my friends and family that I had an entrepreneur mindset. We all have had those projects In school where we have to “create a business” with certain restraints such as a budget or time limit. I always loved these projects and got really into it and thought about as a “what if?”. I knew I would need background knowledge if I was ever going to start my own business at a young age, and so I took every opportunity I could with the classes my high school offered. Before I started my last year of high school, I had already taken multiple classes about business to include: Business, Business Management, Personal Finance, and Accounting. During the summer before my senior year is when I first started to get my business plan rolling. My senior year I knew if I was really going to do this I should have some higher level experience so that when it came to actually working with clients I had a more professional approach and mindset. To accomplish this goal I took some courses and the local community college. These courses were all English or Literature based and gave me the knowledge of how to communicate in a professional manner, to include, but not limited to direct and in-direct communication skills.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
If I’m being honest, I really haven’t got to do a lot with my business because I have also been working on my main career; because while I would love to make this my main job, I was taught to always have a backup plan because you never know what could happen. But within the next few months I’m going to start working on my business more and I can’t wait! But to start off with something that sets me apart is definitely the experiences I’ve been so fortunate to have and the ability to be a part of them. One main thing is I have family all over the country, and so I travel a lot; so being able to take pictures in so many different places has been amazing. I knew I wouldn’t be able to jump in and just start a business and expect to be successful. So I took the advice I got from everyone and started somewhere. Even though I knew its not what I wanted my business to specialize in, focusing on my technique and not having to balance clients on top of that was definitely the best decision I’ve made. Now, I have a lot more knowledge on photography and the process of editing, and I have no doubt that I would be able to handle the whole job, including clients and their needs and wants. I wouldn’t say the process was hard, but it definitely has taken many hours, which takes patience. The biggest thing I’ve learned that I apply to my everyday life is not to give up. You can do whatever you put your mind to, and once you realize that, it’ll change your perspective on so much.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As most people would probably guess, my happy place is out in nature. So whenever I meet up with friends, we’re almost always doing stuff outside. Activities I done with my friends in the past have been hiking, fishing, swimming/beach days (lakes and oceans). Honestly it depends on the activity and the type of day it is, but we usually eat some place that is convenient and accommodates what we’re doing. Anyone who lives in Colorado knows that it is known for the mountains, and the activities you can do summer or winter; spring or fall.

Having lived in Colorado for the past 8+ years, I can say with absolute certainty there’s something for everyone, and multiple ways to get started in something even if you have no experience. Another thing Colorado is know for is being age and experience friendly. If you want to try something new, or get started in a new hobby/sport, Colorado probably has it. I would say if you go to Colorado in the summer, go for a hike, because you wont regret it; and if hiking isn’t something you have experience with, take someone who is expirenced, or ask around and gain some basic knowledge from the locals. If you go to Colorado in the winter, you have to get out on the mountain and try skiing or snowboarding. It’s no secret that Colorado has some of the best ski resorts in the country. But if your not the winter sport type of person, you have to go to the natural Hot Springs that are located all throughout Colorado.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Some people who have helped me throughout this whole process has been my brother and his business partner. My brother, Matthew Morse, started working with Dakai Perez, on his already established and very successful business, Dakai Photography. They both have been my biggest supporters because they both have the past experience from doing this exact thing themselves. They told me what I would need to start a business, to include the mindset I would need because it wasn’t going to happen in one day. They told me would be a long process and no matter what happened if this was something I really wanted to not give up.

Aside from Dakai and my brother, my sister has also always been there to support me through the whole process. We both have the “Entrepreneur Mindset”, and definitely think in a lot of the same ways. She gave me her advice, on how to set up the business from the ground up. She has similar experience with this type of thing because she’s been working on a personal blog through a couple different social media platforms.
