We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaeley Chapel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaeley, what principle do you value most?
Being true to myself, even when I’m not clear on what exactly “myself” is. Being neurodivergent has made having a “normal” job difficult, and common social interactions go over my head. While being true to myself sometimes causes conflict and misunderstanding, the end result is always better than if I’m fighting the friction to create something that doesn’t reflect myself. With the expansion of the 3 Little Birds brand, I wanted to create a place where people felt safe to express whatever they need to. They can trauma dump, discuss personal struggles, celebrate triumphs, tell me their whole life story. I don’t believe in “leaving it at the door”; be true to yourself and hold space for whatever needs to come forward at any given moment.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I wanted to expand on the welcoming and inclusive vibe that 3 Little Birds had already created and bring it up to Northern Colorado. 3 Little Birds welcomes everyone from every walk of life. The only rule is to not be a jerk. Salons can have a cold, corporate feel that make it difficult to relax and unwind, or the opposite; they are too laid-back at the expense of professionalism. I wanted to create a space that was comfortable enough to feel like home, while still providing high-end quality.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I always recommend Meow Wolf for a unique night out, and I’m a sucker for good ramen, so Sera’s Ramen Enclave is one of my go-tos. The Denver Art Museum usually has some cool exhibits, and I love the aquarium as well. For a more active time, I love Defy, the indoor trampoline park.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
None of this would have been possible without Paige, my business partner and the owner of 3 Little Birds Salon. Her friendship and guidance has been an invaluable resource on this journey of entrepreneurship. It’s hard, really hard, to run a business and having her in my corner has opened up possibilities of which I never even thought to dream.
