We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaitlynn Zerr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaitlynn, what do you want people to remember about you?
I hope that people remember me as someone who leaned into her giftings in order to serve others. I believe that I am gifted in creativity, problem solving, relationships and service. I truly believe that we were put on this earth to serve one another to lift each other up! I hope that I can be the vendor in the wedding industry that everyone knows would go out of her way to support and encourage others.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I recently opened my own Wedding Planning & Design company, Studio Joy! I chose the name Studio Joy to represent the creativity that goes into designing an event that is unique to you and your story, and the JOY that is found in the biggest days of our lives! I have spent the last few years learning everything about wedding planning from my previous employer and vendor-friends in the industry. I am so excited to be stepping out on my own, to be able to make creative decisions and to lead my brand in the direction that feels the most like me! I am excited to be able to offer design-focused and detail-oriented packages for my couples.

It was certainly not easy to begin my own company! Imposter-syndrome sneaks in when I am feeling discouraged, but my husband, family and friends are always there to remind me that I have planned many successful and beautiful events over the last few years that have celebrated my couples and their love exactly how they dreamed. I believe when we lean into the gifts we have, and come at our work with a selfless heart, we will always find success!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in northern Colorado, in the best town: Fort Collins! I absolutely love to show it off! (In a different life I could see myself as a travel agent!) If you were to visit me in Fort Collins for the week, we would have to hit all of the best foodie places. My favorites include Silver Grille, Bindle Coffee, Breadfellow, Odell’s Brewery, Sweetheart Winery, Edison’s Ice Cream, and a new restaurant in Old Town: Maida Trattoria! We would spend a day hiking or paddle boarding at Horsetooth Reservoir, playing card games at a brewery, or shopping in Old Town at the many adorable boutiques! Fort Collins also boasts a fun drive-in movie theater (Holiday Twin) and great pickleball courts at Twin Silo Park. Stop by, let’s hang out!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would be nowhere without the support of my husband, Bryan! He is the person that always supports my dreams, encourages me, and reminds me that I am talented and great at what I do! Bryan is the most hard-working, humble, and generous person I know – and he inspires me to be more hard-working, humble and generous in my life and work. I would also love to shoutout Saylor Webb, of Saylor Events & Weddings. She is the person who introduced me to the world of wedding planning (where we first worked together at Kaitlin Shea Weddings!), and has always exemplified the creative and servant-hearted person that I strive to be!
