Meet Kambri Preciado: Master Certified Spray Tan Artist and Educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kambri Preciado and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kambri, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
While working part-time doing airbrush spray tans and getting residency for dental school- I came up with the idea of offering spray tans and teeth whitening. Everyone loves convenience, and not having to leave the house is a win-win! I started up Bring Me Bronze, using my dental background for my teeth whitening service. I did a lot of research, finding the best whitening gel that would give great results but not make teeth overly sensitive and avoid any pain associated with whitening! I also tested out many tanning solutions, settling on a few great options- including a rapid solution that clients can rinse off in as little as 1-3 hours instead of the classic 8 hours a normal tan usually takes. And so the perfect combo of teeth whitening and tanning was born. I have focused on providing the best tanning experience possible, down to the tiniest details always ensuring a flawless tan every time! Since starting, word has spread fast and now Bring Me Bronze is booked and busy, ranking 5 stars on Google and with a strong local fan base- and also selling self tanning and teeth whitening products for home use available online at bringmebronze.com! Lastly, I am huge on body positivity, which is actually a big part of why I love airbrush tanning- anything that makes you a bit more confident should be given a warm welcome! I love making clients feel beautiful and comfortable in their own skin. I know undressing for a spray tan can be awkward so I make sure to do everything I can do to make my clients feel at home with me- then soon enough they can’t wait to get naked again!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am very particular and detail-oriented and so actually I specialize in airbrush tans for photography and partner with a lot of photographers in the area- and specifically for bridal tans. I love making sure client’s tans are totally natural looking and flawless so that no one would even know you would have a tan! A good spray tan should be one that no one knows you have on. Someone once told me that being an entrepreneur is a form of continuous self-improvement and there’s nothing closer to the truth! I have always been a lover of learning and as a business owner, you are ALWAYS learning. You have to have a growth mindset and take every challenging moment as feedback and data points that point you in the right direction. Ultimately, I think the biggest challenge has been the sense of being alone. It’s isolating being an independent business owner and having to set your own goals and self motivate. And on top of that, there’s no one rewarding you when you reach your goals — [there’s] only the next goal to obtain, so it can be a challenge to slow down and appreciate where you started and what you’ve accomplished. The most exciting thing is taking that time to reflect and watch yourself crush your goals bit by bit and then looking way back at how far you’ve come! There’s no bigger sense of fulfillment to look at what you created and put out into the world, the people you’ve helped along the way, and as cheesy as it is — the lives you’ve changed! We may “just” be giving spray tans, but really we’re helping people look and feel their very best. If we can put just a little extra positivity and confidence into the world with each spray tan, then I am in!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite restaurant is the Dushanbe Tea House in Boulder, its gorgeous and the food is fabulous. Followed with a hike in Boulder after that’s my go to Sunday morning plan with anyone visiting in town.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The Association of Sunless Tanning Professionals (ASTP), sunlesspros.org helped me tremendously through my spray tan journey. I wish I would have found this community right when I started! I spent sooo much time researching on my own and just feeling alone, stumbling my way through things. If I had been a member of ASTP I would have had so many resources to help with things like how to better market myself or discounts to save money on trying new solutions — because I did try a ton and it does add up! Having that community as a resource and the members as mentors has been huge for my growth and I have to thank them for where I am today.
