We had the good fortune of connecting with Karine Gulyamova and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karine, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
As a Physical Therapist with over 20 years of experience I only learnt about the importance of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy in 2016. There are a lot of people experience Pelvic Health issues, but unfortunately, many suffer silently and never address them. Pelvic Health Physical Therapy can help people who experience bladder and bowel dysfunction, including urinary incontinence, constipation, hemorrhoids, fecal incontinence, overactive bladder, to name a few. Some people also experience pelvic pain, pain with intimacy, endometriosis or interstitial cystitis. There are many who are unaware that their symptoms can be relieved with Pelvic Health Physical Therapy.
Pelvic Floor PT can make such a huge difference in people’s quality of life and well-being.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As someone who became a refugee during a formative stage of life—I was 17 when my family and I were forced to flee Tajikistan—I’ve had to start over in new countries, adapt to new cultures, and learn new languages multiple times. Through these experiences, I’ve learned that hard work, resilience, and optimism truly pay off.

When I pursued a career in physical therapy, I received little to no education about the business side of the profession during PT school. It was challenging to navigate the logistics of launching a practice—filing for a PLLC, choosing a name, building a website, and managing marketing, to name a few. But despite the steep learning curve, it was all worth it the moment I saw my patients begin to heal and thrive.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that patience is powerful, and there is no shame in asking for help. In fact, leaning on others is often the key to growth. I’ve come to understand just how vital community is—we need one another, and we shouldn’t hesitate to seek or accept support when it’s offered.

My practice, *PelviCare Physical Therapy*, is rooted in these values. It is a trauma-informed clinic where we view and treat each person as a whole—using a biopsychosocial approach to guide our care. We ask thoughtful questions and pay close attention to each patient’s unique background and life story. Our goal is to create a space where people feel seen, heard, and empowered in their healing journey.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d kick things off by taking my friends hiking at Chautauqua, followed by a scenic trip to Nederland for another adventure on the trails. After that, we’d make a quick stop in Rollinsville to grab some delicious pizza at Toss: Wood Fired Eatery—because nothing beats a post-hike slice!

The next day, we’d head to Pearl Street for a relaxing stroll and a bit of shopping. To top it off, we’d enjoy a beautiful outing at the Dushanbe Boulder Tea House, soaking in the unique atmosphere.

Then it’s road trip time! We’d cruise up to Summit County to explore charming mountain towns like Silverthorne, Breckenridge, and Vail. I haven’t quite decided on dinner plans yet—but hey, that’s what Mr. Google is for, right?

To wrap things up, we’d spend a day in Denver, checking out the iconic 16th Street Mall and grabbing drinks at Union Station.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I was blessed to have worked with incredible Pelvic Health Physical Therapist – Jenn Davia, who instilled an interest in me to explore Pelvic Health back in 2016. I am also so grateful to be a member of the Academy of Pelvic Health through the American Physical Therapy Association. The Academy continues to promote our field, raise awareness about the importance of Pelvic Floor PT in all populations, including the transgender members who are undergoing gender affirming surgery.
