We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Goodrich and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Mother Tree Somatic Healing offers a gentle antidote to the challenges of our times. In a culture where tension and disconnection are too often the norm, Mother Tree creates spaces to slow down, tune in, and tend to body, mind, heart, and soul.

Through one-on-one sessions and group healing events, Mother Tree supports people in becoming more of who they truly are, beneath the pain, shame, and defenses we may mistake ourselves to be.

The prayer is this: may we learn to move through this life in a way that is more authentic, more compassionate, more wise, more embodied, more connected, and more sacred.

What should our readers know about your business?
Before I share about what makes my work unique, let me first talk a little more about somatic work and what sets it apart from other healing modalities.

Somatic means “of the body.” I love somatic work as an alternative or complement to traditional talk therapy because it includes the nervous system, the body’s primary communication and control network, in a big way. The more I’ve studied and practiced somatics, the more clear it is that what plagues us is often more than just mental – it’s physical, too. That tight feeling in your chest accompanied by a familiar anxious thought loop? While could choose to talk about the thoughts and stories, I have found that this sometimes keeps us stuck.

Another way, a somatic approach, would be to pause with the uncomfortable sensation in your chest. To breathe with it, even if it’s challenging at first. To observe it with compassion and practice softening around it. If you image the nervous system like a water hose, somatic work helps us unkink the hose so the water – our life energy – can flow more freely. I’ve found this is quite intuitive and effective for many people, with a little guidance and practice.

Okay, so that’s somatics. As for me –

I am adept at holding warm, genuine, and unconditionally welcoming space.

I have a strong ability to sense the energy beneath the words and guide you calmly and safely into (and out of) your own depths.

My guidance is gentle, at your pace, and always with your consent.

I really appreciate this recent testimonial, which I believe sums up my strengths well:

“Amanda took me to an incredibly deep and tender place. Her somatic atunement is profound, and her compassionate care is truly genuine. I will be forever grateful.”

I have built my business through hosting group events at community centers and festivals, hanging flyers around town, creating my website (www.mothertreesomatichealing.com), networking with other healers, and receiving referrals from existing clients. I look forward to listening deeply and discovering what’s in store next for Mother Tree.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Hello, my friend! Welcome to Boulder. I’m so glad you’re in town for the week. Here are some things I thought we might do together. Let’s tune into our bodies and see what feels like a “Yes.”

– Hike the Goat Trail and cool off with a dip in Boulder Creek.

– Move & groove at a class or event at the Boulder Circus Center, the Avalon, or ApeCo.

– Bring our whole selves to a community song circle or grief ritual.

– Enjoy a lunch special at Curry N Kebob and olive oil cake at Suti & Co.

– Stop by Nude Foods for some low-waste groceries or Dharma’s Garden for farm fresh, pay-what-you-wish produce and flowers.

– Catch an interesting film at the Dairy Arts Center or take a free-flowing art class at Bohemia.

– Shop secondhand at Rags Consignment or Garage Sale Vintage.

Whatever we choose, let’s also leave a little room for some unexpected magic. Boulder’s great for that.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Mother Tree would not exist without my teachers, mentors, therapists, and clients.

I want to honor Adriana Albano, Stacy Matulis, and Bridget Bailey, and Nadine Flowers – I am forever grateful for your work, and for all beings you’ve learned from.

And to my clients, past, present, and future: thank you so much for your beautiful trust and courage! Walking alongside you in this way is one my greatest delights. You teach me so much.
