We had the good fortune of connecting with Kasey Gates and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kasey, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
After so many years of part-time video work with a full-time chef work I got tired of having a boss and just wanted to work on my own time and be my own boss. I wanted to make money through creating rather than breaking my back for 50 hours a week.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My videography has a very raw edge to it when I had a video camera in my hand as a little kid I was shooting zombie films with my friends in the neighborhood, after that I spent so many years shooting skateboarding and BMXing and punk/metal shows I have a very distinct style, i’m starting to get more into filmmaking which will really display my style soon better than the videos I’ve been doing recently

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I think about this all the time, me and my friends grew up so poor that having them here to experience denver would be such a treat. First and foremost some camping outside of Leadville, and some 14er climbs. A trip down federal to go to several taco trucks. Meow wolf and casa Bonita when it’s open. Scooters on the 16th st mall like we’re tourists. Lakewood amusement park, cruise through Broadway and Colfax to see where the night takes us

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Part of what makes this all so hard but so rewarding is the fact that I really don’t have anyone behind me my family has all but abandoned me many years ago I don’t really have any type of support or help in anything which makes it really hard and slow moving to get started but I guess that’s what makes me stand out is the struggle I’ve been through
