Hi Kate, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Risk Taking: A Journey of Transformation and Empowerment

Originally from Moscow, Russia, I found myself navigating a challenging landscape as a gay individual in the ’90s. Faced with rejection from my own family and a community that bullied and judged me, I encountered immense adversity. Despite earning a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, I realized I had to make a significant change. At 19, I took the bold step of leaving my past behind and seeking a new life abroad.

The journey wasn’t easy. Growing up in poverty, I struggled to save enough for a flight ticket, and I arrived in a foreign land without speaking English and without knowing anyone. Yet, the drive to seek freedom and authenticity propelled me forward. Fifteen years later, I reflect on how those early experiences shaped who I am today. It’s clear that my willingness to take risks has been instrumental in my journey.

Now, as an entrepreneur, I work closely with indigenous communities and small businesses, fostering connections among like-minded individuals. My mission is to help our communities thrive together, united in purpose and vision.

I stand for the people, promoting principles that resonate deeply with me, such as: freedom, unity, honesty, justice, harmony, peace, love, and light. I strive to embody these values in both my personal and professional relationships, promoting them in everything I do.

Ultimately, it is through risk-taking that I have not only transformed my own life but have also been able to uplift others. Each step outside of my comfort zone has led to growth, connection, and the realization of a fulfilling purpose.

The Russian proverb “He who doesn’t take risks, doesn’t drink champagne”. And even though I don’t drink, I agree! The proverb encourages people to take risks and pursue their goals, even if it means uncertainty or failure. The proverb’s meaning is similar to the English proverb “nothing ventured, nothing gained”

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Business Overview: My business is rooted in a deep commitment to empowerment and community-building. I work closely with indigenous communities and small businesses, focusing on fostering connections among like-minded individuals. Our goal is to create a supportive network that allows everyone to thrive together, united by shared values and mutual respect.

What Sets Us Apart: What truly differentiates my business is the personal journey that informs our mission. Having navigated significant adversity as a LGBTQIA+ individual in Russia, I understand the challenges faced by marginalized groups. This perspective shapes our approach to collaboration, ensuring that inclusivity and respect are at the forefront of everything we do. We prioritize building genuine relationships and creating spaces where everyone feels valued and heard.

Pride and Excitement: I am most proud of the transformations I witness in the communities we work with. Seeing individuals empowered to share their stories and uplift one another fills me with joy. The excitement comes from the collective growth we achieve—when small businesses flourish and indigenous voices are amplified, it reinforces the power of unity and shared purpose.

Journey to Success: The path to establishing my business has been anything but easy. After leaving Russia at 19, I faced numerous challenges, including language barriers and financial struggles. However, my determination to seek freedom and authenticity fueled my drive. I immersed myself in learning, networking, and finding mentors who guided me along the way. Each challenge became a stepping stone, leading me closer to my vision.

Overcoming Challenges: The journey has taught me the importance of resilience and adaptability. When faced with setbacks, I leaned on my values and the support of my community. By viewing challenges as opportunities for growth, I was able to pivot and develop innovative solutions. My experiences have also instilled a deep empathy for others facing their own struggles, inspiring me to create an inclusive environment for all.

Lessons Learned: Some of the key lessons I’ve learned include the power of vulnerability in leadership and the necessity of collaboration. By sharing my own story, I encourage others to do the same, fostering an atmosphere of openness and trust. I’ve also come to appreciate that success is not just measured in financial terms, but in the impact we have on others’ lives.

Message to the World:
Healing comes in many different ways.
Ultimately, I want the world to know that transformation is possible through risk-taking and authenticity. My journey is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the importance of standing for one’s values. I believe that by promoting principles like freedom, unity, and love, we can create a more just and harmonious world. My brand embodies these ideals, and I hope to inspire others to embrace their own journeys and uplift the communities around them.
