We had the good fortune of connecting with Katherine Skaggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katherine, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Love is the only answer, no matter the question. This is the guidance that came to me in a mystical white light experience I had at age 31. To this day it is my guidance for living a loving and full life. It is not always easy but it is the only way. Love is a vibration and frequency that transmutes all lower energies. It is the energy that shows us the way to harmony and peace. It must first of all come from within. Then we can give it away, making room for more to flow through us.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a visionary artist of the heart and soul. The most profound work I have created has come after I asked the question, “How does my art and my spirituality fit together?” Goddesses, Gods, Angels, Ascended Masters, Spirit Guides, Totem Animals, and Soul Portraits began to flow from me as I connected the spirit world to my art. I am guided to paint and express the energy of the Divine in all its forms. I am a messenger of the invisible realms of the soul, creating imagery and writing words to illuminate the beauty that is within, as well as all around us.

As a visionary artist, spiritual teacher, and writer, I am inspired to paint, teach, and tell stories of the soul’s beauty, and of the world of spirit. I have painted more than 3000 soul portraits in the last 20 years. Each soul portrait or spirit guide painting brings imagery, symbol, story, and light of the soul to the individual to illuminate their beauty and assist them into remembering the soul self and not just the human personality. I have also painted over 200 Divine Beings. This includes the 22 Goddesses of the iconic, award-winning Mythical Goddess Tarot, as well as many other Divine Mothers known around the world. Archangels, Ascended Masters, Mayan Masters, Celestial Beings, and other guides have graced the canvases I have painted. Each brings a message and an energy to help humanity heal into the path of love and wisdom. 44 of these Masters bring their beauty and wisdom forth through the award-winning Masters of Light Wisdom Oracle published in October 2022. in I also have painted many animal spirits and plant spirits, bringing their messages and stories forth to inspire, uplift, and guide. More than 70 of these paintings can be found in my multi-award winning spiritual guidebook Artist Shaman Healer Sage: Timeless Wisdom, Practices, Ritual, and Ceremony to Transform Your Life and Awaken Your Soul.

As artist, creative, writer, and spiritual teacher I find my path is to give birth to the mystical, spiritual, invisible world of the Divine. I am a messenger and a mystic, who is here to help others return to the heart and soul. I am here to help provide imagery and words that guide and help individuals remember and have an experience of the mystical world that creates the physical reality. Through this seeds are planted to create positive, loving change.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Downtown Fort Collins is a great place to explore. There’s always something happening there, from good food to various arts experiences. I highly recommend it.

If someone wants to get out of town there are many places to hike in the foothills nearby.

If someone wants an extraordinary spiritual experience I invite them to come join one of my moon ceremonies or classes, to make a drum, to have a fire ceremony, to experience a shamanic journey, to get a soul portrait… there are many possibilities.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my many teachers who have appeared upon my spiritual path over the years, in addition to my very best friends who have always had my back and loved me along the way. This includes my early metaphysical teachers Denise and Barbara, who also became good friends. Also thanks to Jose and Lena Stevens of the Power Path School of Shamanism who brought me into the fold of multi-cultural shamanism, providing many teachings, shamans and teachers, and ceremonial experiences for my growth. Thanks to Lydia Ruyle for taking me on adventures around the world to meet the Goddess pre-patriarchy, inspiring my next steps with the Divine Mother. Thanks to Sage Holloway, my dearest friend and co-creative whom I co-created the Mythical Goddess Tarot. Thanks to all my spirit guides and helpers who have dropped the breadcrumbs on the path of life to help me find the path of the heart, giving me the courage to walk it in more love all the time. Thanks to my beloved pets, who have been the best companions along the way.
