Meet Katie Tyrrell | Jeweler & entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Tyrrell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katie, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am deeply inspired by the circles of women in my life. The light and love that they pour out into their relationships, families, careers, and communities inspires me on the daily to go out into the world and give it my all.
Strong, successful, and loving women create unstoppable communities. When women lift each other up, they build networks of support, encouragement, and resilience that empower everyone to thrive.
True success isn’t just personal—it’s collective. It’s about celebrating each other’s wins, offering a hand when challenges arise, and creating spaces where every woman feels seen, valued, and capable of reaching her fullest potential. Together, we inspire confidence, foster growth, and make a lasting impact on our communities, proving that when women support women, incredible things happen.
As an entrepreneurial mother of three, I truly could not bring my dreams to fruition without the incredible women who have encouraged me every step of the way.

What should our readers know about your business?
They say you’re not supposed to have a favorite child, but in the realm of our businesses, my little jewelry business, TyWilde Designs, has quickly become just that. It allows me the creative outlet and human connection that I depend on for mental and emotional rejuvenation.
One of my main missions in creating this business was to bring small moments of connection into the lives of women around me. I have been so fortunate to step into fresh corners of our beautiful Colorado communities, meeting so many incredible women along the way who motivate and inspire me.
I’d have to say that motherhood probably brought out the more feminine side to this Colorado-bred, outdoor recreation junkie. The creation of my jewelry allowed me to honor the rugged, resilient, yet delicate and effortlessly beautiful woman I have grown to love.
When someone wears a TyWilde piece, I want them to feel every bit of their resilience and beauty! I firmly believe that no woman should have to break her bank to feel or look her best. My commitment will always be to create affordable, custom, yet lasting and timeless pieces that highlight the wildly feminine within her.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh, this is such a tough one! Our state is truly one big, beautiful playground! Of all of the wonderful places to see and things to do, I would probably narrow it down to a trip up to Grand County in early summer.
We would stay in Fraser or Granby so we could split our time between Winter Park and Grand Lake/RMNP. We’d kick off our day with a hike up to and just beyond Adam’s Falls. Upon our descent back down to Grand Lake, we’d fish along the pier and paddleboard off the quaint public swim beach. We’d grab lunch at Rum Kitchen and window shop along the boardwalk, before venturing back over to Winter Park for the remainder of the day. After a beautiful bike ride between Fraser and WP, we’d stop for dinner at Durbar (the best Nepalese food you’ll ever find!)
The next day, we’d venture even further into RMNP, entering from the west side and driving over Trail Ridge Road, making our way into Estes Park. There, we’d spot the iconic elk herds before stopping off at the Stanley for some fun-filled spooks. We’d then make our way back down to the city, stop over for an insanely satisfying dinner at Oliver’s Italian in DTC, then wind down amidst the glowing city lights and the latest headliner at Red Rocks.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As mentioned above, the beautiful circles of women in my life inspire almost every piece I sit down to create. But at its root, this little endeavor would have never taken flight without my ever supportive and loving husband (who listens to all of my ridiculous ideas and collaborates to make them a reality), and my cute kid crew who (because I couldn’t imagine missing a moment of their childhood) forced me to get creative on ways to supplement income from my retired 8-5.
My husband and I are both blessed (and sometimes cursed) with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. We are constantly flowing between the spaces of dreaming and creating. Some of our ideas have taken off, and many have flopped. But at the end of it all, we remain energized by the excitement of the whole process.
At the start of TyWilde, I remember being so excited, yet extremely overwhelmed, by the thought of starting something completely on my own, worrying that it would surely flop and I would lose my initial investment as quickly as it left our meager (at the time) savings account.
The day that I decided to finally take the plunge, Mel Robbins so eloquently posted- “You are not an imposter, you are a beginner”. Those words brought me so much peace in that moment. I knew that one day I would look back on those beginning days/weeks with a sweet tenderness and gratitude for the humble beginning.
Now, a couple of years after the birth of TyWilde, we are taking even bigger risks thanks to the small (and sometimes larger) successes of my sweet little jewelry biz, allowing Mel’s words to bolster our confidence that all will work out in the end.
I encourage everyone with a dream to take Mel’s words to heart! “You are not an imposter, you are a beginner!”
