We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaylee and Neko Knibbe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaylee and Neko, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Neko grew up in a family where his grandfathers and dad owned their own businesses and worked for themselves. He always knew that he wanted to do the same and when the opportunity arose, we went for it. We both have talked for a very long time about wanting to create something of our own in Colorado Springs and be able to build a community and be able to give back to things that we find important in life. We also like to have a work life balance where we like to spend time with our family and our daughter, London. We want to make sure that we are watching every moment of her life. We don’t want to miss out on anything. We believe by opening a business we can do all of these things and show our daughter that it is possible to build a life you love.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Bad and Boozy is not your typical yoga studio. We are driven to provide a space that is fun and inviting for all. Do a yoga class and then relax afterwards with a beer or a glass of wine. Our classes are also in an intimate environment, making it easy for the yoga instructors to connect with their students. Like we have said previously, it is our goal to create a business where we can give back to our community. That is our main goal.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Colorado Springs has so many great things to do. I would take them to Hellen Hunt Falls for a hike and then drive them down to Manitou Springs to check out the Manitou Brewing Co. for lunch and a beer. Old Colorado is a must see when visiting. The shops are adorable and the food is so good. My two favorite restaurants are Paravicini’s Italian Bistro and Monse’s Pupuseria. You obviously can’t miss seeing Garden of the Gods while you’re in the area!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to shoutout one of our previous bosses. Watching him own his own business and be able to give a certain percentage of his businesses earnings back to foundations that he wanted to give back to inspired us to be able to do that someday. He told me that one day he hopes to be able to live off of 10% of his income and donate the rest. Giving back makes the world go around. We would love to do that as well someday! Not only with money, but to be able to hold events and give back to our community in ways that we weren’t able to before.
