We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Plache and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kim, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was getting bored with being in the medical field, never reached my goal of becoming a business office manager for my local hospital because I didn’t have the work experience but I received my BSBS in Management. I always loved animals even though I didn’t grow up with them. When a friend said his daughter was retiring from dog walking. I looked into it. I went out to get bonded & insured for my client’s protection and invested $1,000 in myself. I loved it and made back my investment.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started my business in October 2014, I needed fulfillment and a purpose to help other people’s pets while they were away to work or on vacation. A few years later I was laid off from the medical field, my husband said grow your business. I operate my company with an unparalleled integrity of loyalty to duty to the customer’s pets and to the customer. Kim is a member the American Kennel Club which follows a strict guideline that the health, welfare and concern of the animal comes before all other considerations. Kim conducts her business as a true loyalty to the pets and to the owners, if there’s a problem the owner is notified, if the owner is unavailable, Kim will attend the medical concerns immediately. Loyalty, Honesty and Caring of the well-being of the pets.

There is no other pet business in the area that takes care of ALL your pet’s needs. We have clients who has farm pets (horses, chickens, goats, ducks). cats, dogs, birds and reptiles. Most pet sitters only take care of cat & dogs. I wanted my company to service ALL your pet’s needs. One of my clients said “I am thankful I found your company. Before I would take the dog to a boarding facility then I would have to spend 2 hours to round up the cats to take them to their facility. Now that I found you, they stay home, cats go out during the day & come home at night. Everyone is happy. You saved me the hassle of rounding them up.”

Running a business is not easy. How I got where I am today is basically trial & error and finding other business support. Businesses that are honest & have integrity on what they do to help me grow. I am grateful in finding people who want to work, love pets in a loving & caring manor as I do. Also a part of our service to our clients: we’ll shovel your walk during our stay/visit, I have handy people available to help with minor repairs if needed while the owner is away. Many more perks for the owner. Inside and Out Pet Care is not just your pet sitter we also take care of your property, We make sure that there is no running water or other things out of place. When there was a hail storm one summer, the client’s canopy was up & full of hail. Instead of leaving the canopy up, I took one corner down to relieve the stress of the weight. It’s the little things that my customers appreciate.

My lessons I am still learning, is not every pet owner is my client. I want to help everyone who has pets. I strive to help the “last minute” prospective clients but if they don’t respect our time, service, the way we on board our clients or prices then they are not the right client for us.

What I want the world to know is if you treat us right and respect us as your pet sitters, I go above & beyond our services. My clients know they can call me ask me questions or advise on their pets and occasionally I can help on other matters too . If I don’t have the answer I network with other businesses that can help.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First day my friend & I would go to the Loveland Sculpture park, my favorite is East of 29th St & Taft avenue, we can walk the dogs there. Then we can go to Devil’s Backbone open space & walk on the trails. There are many great restaurants in Loveland & brewery. Next day we’d take a ride up to Estes Park, walk around the town & see the Stanley Hotel. The following day go up to Horsetooth Reservoir, there are many hiking trails easy to medium and a fall there too. For lunch or dinner we can head up to Vern’s diner in LaPorte, CO, great home cooking food. Johnstown’s corner, truck stop has the best cinnamon rolls, we’ll have to get some the next day as we head down to Denver. We can find a rafting trip in Ft. Collins to round up the trip. Almost any where we can go fly fishing if you want too. There are many different activities to do in Colorado.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m not sure if this is what you are looking for. I contribute my clients to my success. These are my most recent clients who love our services.
