We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimber Kelley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimber, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Success can look different for so many, and deciding what that looked like for me was important especially when we live in a world where we can easily have a front row seat into people’s lives thanks to social media. This often brought on comparison, feeling like I wasn’t “successful” enough compared to others in my same line of work, and I’ll be the first to tell you comparison is a thief of joy. Although I didn’t start out perfectly in this area when I first began my career as an entrepreneur 7 years ago, a few things come to mind when I think about what the most important factor behind my “success” has been. First, staying in my lane. Almost like blinders on a horse, focusing on my path and what I could handle on a daily basis, what I was capable of, and the things I was doing to further my own business, instead of what others were doing or handling. I often think about the famous photo from the Rio Olympics in 2016, where Michael Phelps and opponent Chad Le Clos are swimming neck and neck. The picture is of Chad Le Clos looking over at Michael Phelps for just a split second to see where he was at, and it ultimately cost him the metal. He was so worried about what Michael was doing, he lost sight of where he was headed and it set him back. How true is that in life? When we’re so focused on what the other person is doing instead of putting one foot in front of the other and focussing on how we can best get to the top of our own mountain, we derail, and lose momentum. Lesson learned- don’t be a Chad. Mindset would be another huge factor. When you have an understanding that “hey this journey may take awhile but I’m going to stick it out” you’re likely to ride the waves and come out stronger. Keeping that positive mindset in the forefront of my mind I believe has been key to many aspects of what I do. Now don’t get me wrong, I still have moments of frustration and doubt, but trying to find the positive in things and remain optimistic is what keeps me going. Which leads me to my last point, never giving up. They say the average network marketer gives up about 6 months into their journey. 6 months! They also say it can take between 3-5 years until a network marketer begins to really see the fruits of their labor. Nearly 4 years into my journey as a network marketer I can honestly say that is the whole truth especially when we live in a time where we are so used to immediate results. Hungry?drive-threw. Feeling achey, google it. Flat tire? YouTube it. Or how about when times get hard. For me getting pregnant with my third baby right as I began my journey in network marketing, still running my studio salon while also trying to build a side business, homeschooling my older two kiddos, then finally getting into a groove figuring out how to balance mom life and work like, then SURPRISE baby number four on the way, oh yeah and let’s throw a pandemic in there all at the same time. It’s been a wild ride, but with the support of my biggest cheerleader my husband Nate, my kids being flexible, and extended family helping out wherever they can, I have been able to live out a dream that most people give up on after 6 months. When you believe in something whole heartedly, and most importantly you believe in yourself, incredible things can happen, especially if you’re willing to put in the hard work. God has truly blessed my family in ways we didn’t see coming, and I feel as though I’m just scratching the surface of a long and ever growing opportunity still yet to come.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It was interesting trying to title what exactly it is that I do as it’s a multitude of things! 10 years ago I became a cosmetologist and worked in the salon world for a few years until I broke off from that and started my own in home studio salon so I could be more available to my family. At that time it was important to my husband and I to homeschool our kiddos, but I quickly learned running a studio salon often traveling to do events and homeschooling was incredibly difficult to juggle. So something had to give, but how, I had to work. That was when I came across a brand new little company called Seint ( back then it was called MaskCara) and I thought okay let’s give this a try. I wear makeup anyways, I’m sure my clients will be curious where I buy my makeup, might as well make a little side money. Shortly after joining Seint I learned I was pregnant with my third baby. I knew standing on my feet for ten hours a day with scoliosis and a growing baby wasn’t going to work for a third time, so with much prayer my husband and I decided to close the doors on the salon. It was then I began to take this side gig with Seint more seriously. We knew it would take time to build so in the meantime my husband got a second job as a mortgage loan officer to off set the bills. Being that his main job was working as an engineer for the Denver Fire Department, having a job he could do from home on his off days was a huge blessing. Fast forward to two years of him working those two jobs, I get emotional when I tell people that he no longer needs that second job thanks to what started out as a side gig for me and has now turned into a full time income for our family. Getting to this point in my business has not been easy but I feel so grateful and excited to have a job where I can work from home, still be a stay at home mama, while teaching women all over the world about simple beauty routines they can do with their hair, makeup, and skincare which in turn creates a confidence in someone that literally lights up a room when they walk in. That was why I became a cosmetologist in the first place, there’s something about watching someone leave your chair knowing you played a small part in that beaming self confidence they now exude. I think that is something that sets my brand a part from others in my same line of work. I’m not out to make a quick sale. Im genuinely out here wanting to teach and educate women on simple quick beauty tips and tricks that I have learned over my last ten years in the beauty industry so that others can gain that same knowledge in the comfort of their own home. I’m also not your average beauty “influencer.” I live a pretty average life here on our little 10 acre farm, wrangling chickens, hanging by the pond on warm summery days watching the kiddos splash around in the sprinklers, and helping with the daily chores that come along with country life, which I think helps me feel more relatable to my subscribers and clients. That even this mama of soon to be four can find quick simple ways to look put together for the day and leave the house feeling like a million bucks. As mentioned earlier, being an entrepreneur requires a lot of patience, a lot of late nights or early mornings, and a lot of faith in something you can’t quite see yet. Throughout these last couple years I have learned that when you stay consistent in something, show up day in and day out in whatever capacity that looks like to best suit your lifestyle, and you’re willing to put in the time and hours it takes because you fully and whole heartedly believe in something, incredible things happen. I want other women out there to know, whether you’re a stay at home mom, a working mom, or you hope to be a mom someday, that YOU are capable far beyond what you think. Don’t limit your potential because it’s never too late to learn something new. We all have a special unique ability that God has blessed us with, and you CAN do anything you set your mind to. Throw out all the doubt and fear, because on the other side of your greatest fear is your greatest potential!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have lived in Colorado my whole life, and it’s amazing how much of it I still have yet to discover! But one of my most favorite places in Colorado is by far Estes Park. I would take my friends up there walk the town, get some fudge or taffy, eat at Penelope’s, be sure to stop in at Joy House, and stay the night at the River Song. From there we’d head to Buena Vista and spend the day rafting with Buffalo Joe’s being sure to stop and eat their delicious steak lunch halfway through the trip. After that we’d head to Gunnison with our camper and stay at the Blue Mesa RV Resort and hit the lake the next day in the pontoon. Finally we’d make the 5 hour journey back to our home town here in Fort Collins and have some breakfast at the Silver Grill, followed by lunch at the Union before we head over to Ginger and Baker for a cooking class! We make sure all our friends are well fed and exhausted when they leave haha!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I first and foremost have to thank my Lord Jesus Christ for giving me the unique abilities and talents to teach women all over the world simple beauty routines that have transpired them into feeling confident from the inside out. Next hands down my Husband, Nate. From the very beginning he has always been the one on the sidelines encouraging me in the highs and encouraging me in the lows, he’s my daily hype guy, and I’m forever grateful for his continuous support, from working two jobs at a time to support our family during this unconventional dream I’ve been chasing, to being a dad, home chef, and personal house cleaner, he’s the jack of all trades! Next my kids, Landen, Gracie, Lucas, and mystery baby #4 haha. Having a work from home mom requires a lot of patience and understanding from these kiddos and they have shown so much grace and love throughout my entreprenuroial journey! My parents Scott and Lisa Morley and in-laws Barb and Larry Kelley, who have taken the grand babies for the weekend or the afternoon or school pick up while dads on shift at the firehouse so I could get a few hours of peaceful work time in, they are the MVP’s when it comes grandparents! My mentor Savanah Poulsen, who has poured so much time, resources, and belief into my life as she swooped in and took me under her wing when I was ready to give it all up. Lastly, all my dedicated clients, because if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have a business to run at all! It takes a village, and I’m incredibly grateful for my village!
