We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimme Seufert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimme, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Everything changed for me when I realized the only difference between me and the people living the life I want to live is that they went and did it. The risk of living an non-fulfilling life weighed heavier than the risk of pursuing a life that fills my cup every day. I found the energy it took for me to worry about the “What ifs” took away from my momentum to make things happen. There are few things a little hard work can’t resolve. But elbow grease aside, I whole heartedly believe anything you feel passionate about will lay out a path for you and what’s meant for you will not miss you.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a first year tattoo artist I am still establishing my style but I draw a lot of inspiration from the art nouveau style which includes florals, geometric patterns, neutral earth tones and an overall more feminine, elegant vibe. The consistent growth I feel as an artist is a huge motivating force and something I draw pride from. Seeing how far I’ve come in just a year makes me keep my eyes up and excited for what the future holds. I would not say it has been easy getting to where I am now in such a short time, but I would say it feels natural. Whenever I have felt any sort of defeat, I remind myself of the end goal and the idea of “Rome wasn’t built in a day” and neither were all the amazing artists I admire. Every time I pick up the machine, my goal is to do better than the last, to not get comfortable, to stay curious & always be learning. This position has instilled in me the beauty of slowing down, taking my time and being here now. Growth doesn’t always have to be painful.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To be totally honest, I am a homebody. Cooking is my love language so hosting at home is what gets me excited. As a vegetarian, I enjoy cooking unique vegetarian dishes for my guests to show them how easy and delicious it can be. However, when we do have visitors, typically we will take a drive into the mountains, usually Idaho Springs for some Beau Jo’s pizza and scenic views. I avoid Downtown Denver like the plague and I don’t drink alcohol so typically coffee shops around the Boulder area are on the itinerary as well. If we can find a Red Rocks show, I always try to bring new people there for the shock and awe. But generally speaking, being at home with loved ones in my favorite. Playing board games and sitting on the patio in the sunshine with a cold drink while the kiddos play is where I’d like to be.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The amount of support I’ve received brings me to my knees. I have many people to thank from my brother that always said I needed to be an artist, to my husband who told me to quit my administrative job and follow my dreams, but ultimately I would not be in this life-changing position if it wasn’t for my best friend, Autumn Newby and her partner, my mentor, Stevie Smith. They knew my potential was beyond the job I was working and proposed the opportunity of a lifetime. As a credible tattoo artist, Stevie put his name on the line to bring me in as his apprentice. I’ll never be able to thank them enough for giving me the opportunity.
