We had the good fortune of connecting with Josh Latham and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Josh, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Honestly, it’s pretty crazy. Whenever I’m not at work I’m typically working on music. I tend to sacrifice most of my social life in order to continue to progress. I find myself having to make time specifically to meet up with friends, but most of the time there’s a business aspect tied in as well. For example, I’ll do something fun with friends but we talk about plans for audio or visual stuff. I also spend a lot of time going to shows just to build connections, network, and learn from people who are further along than I am. So overall I’d say my music really is my life.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
First and foremost, getting to where I am today has been anything but easy. I’m incredibly proud of the progress I’ve made with my music and my brand. Sometimes it’s hard to stay motivated and high on myself, but through having a solid supporting cast and constantly working on my own mental health, I’ve been able to persevere through any of the challenges I’ve faced so far. Really, anything can be a learning experience if you’re open minded enough. One thing that really sets my music apart from other artists is the fact that on top of producing a bunch of different genres/vibes, I also sing and rap over my own music. Most artists I know only either produce music or sing/rap over music other people made. So far that has been a very helpful aspect for getting more recognition for my music.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being in Denver, you absolutely have to check out the bass music scene. There are tons of amazing music venues all around the Denver area, and that would be a huge aspect of the itinerary. I also am a gigantic foodie. There are tons of incredible restaurants around Denver and there’s no doubt we would be hitting up a lot dining spots. Another fun thing I like to do in Denver is take the electric scooters all over the city. Taking i70 west out of the city also puts you in reach of some incredible parks and trails as well. I definitely have a massive soft spot for nature, it’s actually one of the reasons I even came to Denver in the first place!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve been lucky enough to have been invited into a collective of artists called the Too Tru Krew. It’s definitely been a major factor in how quickly I’ve been progressing. Being connected to other artists really helps to hold me accountable and continue to do everything I can to progress. Walking this path alone is much different than having a team to support your ideas and goals. We really do everything we can to assist each other on our journeys to becoming the best possible versions of ourselves.
