Meet Kira LeNoir | Floral designer + creek goer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kira LeNoir and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kira, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
I guess this isn’t really advice but every time I hear an iteration of “positive vibes only” I want to tear my ears off and stomp on them. Recognizing that sometimes things and situations really suck, is the first step in making them not suck. Being angry when something really passionately pisses you off is just as important as spreading joy and love. “Positive vibes only” = deadly complacency. No thanks.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I tend to get bored easily. I’ve never been able to stick to one creative medium or hobby and I think that translates to my floral design. I love collaborating with other creatives to help develop and evolve my style.
Today, I’m a lead designer with Something Styled along side creative director and owner, Sarah Johns. I met Sarah in 2022 while I was traveling the country in my van living at DIY skateparks and working floral freelance gigs. That experience taught me to be flexible, patient, and above all, resourceful.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
After checking out a few skateparks we’d make a stop at Chain Reaction to buy some records and heavy metal stuff. If there’s still a few hours of sunlight, we’d go to Bear Creek in Morrison to cool off and touch grass. Then to end the night, I’d take them to smoke cigs inside, drink lots of cheap beer, and do karaoke at Cleopatra’s off Alameda in Lakewood. We’d probably do that everyday for a week.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I owe a ton to my old boss back in Dallas, Chuck Cole. Chuck owns the Corner Market, a little deli/cafe with a flower shop in East Dallas, right off Greenville and McCommas. He hired me a hundred years ago, back when I was a 19 year old degenerate and getting a job while looking weird and having tattoos was still hard to do. After a handful of years going home covered in mayonnaise and reeking of grilled pastrami, I asked if I could work in the flower shop for a change of scenery. It was a resounding “no” from Chuck. After a lot of begging and a little “I’m going to quit if you don’t let me” blackmail, I eventually weaseled my way into the shop. If it weren’t for Chuck taking a chance on me, I would never have become the floral designer I am today.
