Meet Krista Simonson | Realtor – South Denver Mayor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Krista Simonson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Krista, what are you inspired by?
What inspires me most is my family—my husband, David, and our daughters, Grace and Katie. They remind me every day of what truly matters and keep me grounded in love and purpose. My faith also plays a central role in my life, guiding my decisions and giving me strength through every season.
I’m deeply inspired by those who understand that true success isn’t just about personal achievement—it’s about lifting each other up. We thrive when our neighbors thrive, and building a strong, connected community from the ground up is essential.
Over the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of meeting hundreds of people who care deeply about South Denver and the place we all call home. Their passion, commitment, and heart for community continue to inspire me every day.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets us apart in the industry?
In any given year, there are over 30,000 realtors in the Denver metro area. What truly touches me—and distinguishes the Simonson Team—is our unwavering commitment to our clients long after the closing papers are signed. We don’t view real estate as a one‑and‑done transaction; we see it as a lifelong partnership. From connecting clients with trusted local service providers, to celebrating milestones with a toast over a great glass of wine, our approach is built on genuine care and ongoing support.
What makes me excited?
I’m energized by the power of community. When our neighbors thrive—mentally, physically, and financially—we all win. Watching families settle into their dream homes, then seeing them flourish in South Denver, fills me with purpose. During the pandemic, that passion led us to launch two Facebook communities—SouthDenverFood and South Denver Strong—where neighbors shared resources, recipes, support and encouragement. Those virtual “kitchen tables” reminded me why I love what I do: bringing people together to build each other up.
How did I get to where I am today?
I became a realtor in 2001, and David—my husband and business partner—joined me in 2002. Under the RE/MAX umbrella, we formed the Simonson Team and set out to do things differently. Early on, we realized that being part of a global brand gives you reach, but true influence comes from local roots. So we dug in: volunteering at neighborhood events, sponsoring local nonprofits, hosting client appreciation gatherings—and listening. Today, our “South Denver Mayors” moniker isn’t just a fun nickname—it’s a badge of honor earned by years of showing up.
Lessons learned along the way
Relationships over transactions. A deal might close in 30 days, but a friendship can last a lifetime.
Community first. A healthy market depends on healthy people—and that means mental, physical, and financial wellness.
Adapt and innovate. The pandemic tested us all—but it also taught us the value of virtual connection and creative problem‑solving.
Balance matters. Watching my husband juggle a thriving real‑estate career with family life reinforced the lesson I’d learned from my mentor years ago: success is sweetest when shared with those you love.
What I want the world to know about me—and our brand
At our core, the Simonson Team is about people. Whether it’s helping you find your first home, strategizing an investment plan, or simply being there to cheer you on, we measure success by the lives we touch. South Denver is more than a market—it’s home. And when we lift up our neighbors, we all rise together. That’s the story I’m proud to share.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My former boss, Chuck Vogel. I met Chuck in my late twenties, and he was truly one of a kind. We used to joke about him being the “big Texan”—he lived life with a kind of ferocious joy and brought that same energy to work. But what stood out most was the way he raised up those around him. He cared deeply about what he did, but even more so about the people he worked with.
What made him truly unique in the corporate world was his ability to balance that passion with an unwavering commitment to his family. That kind of example stays with you. Our lives moved in different directions over the years, but my admiration for the way he mentored me—and so many others—never faded.
Several years ago, Chuck was tragically killed by a hit-and-run driver on the Fourth of July. It was heartbreaking. But even in that grief, there was a silver lining. The outpouring of stories and memories made it clear that I wasn’t the only one he had lifted up. He had touched hundreds of lives with that same generous spirit. Today, there’s a park in Parker named in his honor—Chuck Vogel Memorial Park—and it’s a beautiful reminder of the kind of legacy he left behind.
