We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristen Faith Sharpe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristen Faith, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is faith. My crazy faith brought my now-husband and I across the country to a new city to literally expand our territory. I had created a nonprofit for domestic violence advocacy a few years prior to the move and my husband was staking his ground to build a thriving music culture and industry. One thing was for certain, we came with a purpose – to create an impact. In the immediate years following our move, I struggled with depression, our relationship was rocky, business and life were on fire. What got us through every challenge and every win was our faith.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career has been filled with unforgettable experiences like photoshoots inside One World Trade Center with Glamour Magazine to being honored with prestigious recognitions like The American Red Cross Humanitarian Wendall Cutting Award. I’ve been a community organizer for nearly 20 years, creating change and making an impact in my community for people all of backgrounds, ages, and beliefs. Serving others was inspired by my mom who always instilled giving back was important.

I’m most proud of the impact I’ve made on millions of people around the globe for my efforts in domestic violence advocacy. When I launched my nonprofit, Break the Silence Against Domestic Violence at 22 years old, all I knew is I wanted to create change. I helped thousands of people share their story and helped thousands more leave abusive relationships. I had the honor of speaking to schools across the country and even provided training for social workers, doctors, and the military.

I must admit, going from Domestic Violence Expert to full-time Boss Babe and soloprenuer was a learning curve. I’ll be honest, it was hard. There were actually so many days and nights where I cried in my husbands arms out of frustration and overwhelm. Then the imposter syndrome set in. I tried to convince myself that all of the success was just a fluke or luck. But after years of healing, mentorship, and a supportive network I am slowly unraveling that lie.

There’s so much to know about me, I’m more than than the girl who went through domestic violence. But I am also more than just a Boss Babe. I’m multi-talented with lots of different experiences. Use your story as a stepping stone to pursue your passions.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Colorado Springs offers an incredible blend of natural beauty, outdoor adventures, attractions, and renowned landmarks. Take a stroll through downtown Colorado Springs, exploring the quaint shops, art galleries, and historic architecture. One of my favorites is the Pioneers Museum. It’s filled with tons of information about the history of Colorado Springs and the people who helped sculpt our city. Enjoy eats at COATI, a restaurant incubator filled with tons of locally owned restaurants. Of course, you can’t forget Manitou Springs and Garden of the Gods. Anytime I have friends and family in town, these two spots are a must. Take the scenic drive or hop on the Pikes Peak Cog Railway to the summit of Pikes Peak, where you’ll be treated to breathtaking panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains. Visit the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, home to hundreds of animals from around the world. Don’t miss feeding the giraffes or riding the Mountaineer Sky Ride for stunning views of the city. Visit the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, featuring a diverse collection of art, including Native American and Hispanic art, as well as contemporary works. Spend the day hiking or mountain biking in the beautiful Red Rock Canyon Open Space, with its stunning red rock formations and panoramic views of the city. There’s so much to do here – you just have to see for yourself!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly, there are so many people I’d thank. My biggest hero is my best friend and husband, TerryJosiah. From literally picking me up off the ground as I uncontrollable wept after hearing my grandma had passed away to being my biggest cheerleader after my biggest career transition to date, my husband has been my rock and my biggest supporter. We’ve worked together in every facet of our life over these last 11 years, if it weren’t for him I don’t know where I’d be.
