Hi Laurel, is there something you believe many others might not?
One piece of conventional wisdom I disagree with is the idea that you should wait to buy a home until you have the right partner. I’ve heard so many women say they want to ‘wait until they’re married’ or ‘wait until they meet the right person’ before purchasing property. I believe this mindset can hold people back from building wealth and creating stability for themselves.

Homeownership is one of the most powerful ways to grow your net worth, and waiting for a relationship milestone means potentially missing years of equity growth, tax benefits, and rental income opportunities. I’ve heard this new philosophy called ‘Houses Before Spouses.’ When you buy a home when you are financially ready — not when your relationship status dictates it — you take control of your future and invest in yourself first. The right partner will celebrate that independence, not be intimidated by it.

For women especially, it’s about shifting the mindset from ‘I’ll do this when life lines up perfectly’ to ‘I can take this step for me, right now.’ You can always share a home later with a partner, but you can’t go back and reclaim the years of equity you missed by waiting.

What should our readers know about your business?
As a real estate investor turned mortgage broker, I bring a unique perspective to helping clients strategize their home purchases. Whether it’s a first home, a move-up purchase, or an investment property, I take an in-depth approach to ensure the decision makes sense not only financially, but personally. I love running numbers, analyzing income potential, and even connecting clients with trusted contractors to bring their vision to life.

Building my business from the ground up has been both one of the most challenging and most rewarding experiences of my life. Starting from scratch tested my resilience, but it also strengthened my belief that consistency is the key to success. Every client I work with is a reminder of why I chose this path—because helping people create stability, build wealth, and feel empowered through homeownership is truly life-changing.

I’m especially passionate about inspiring women to take that first step toward buying a home. I know it can feel intimidating, but with the right team and the right plan, it’s not just possible—it can be transformative.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Restaurants/Drinks:
– Hops & Pie – amazing Detroit style pizza & great patio seating!
– Ginger Pig – asian fusion with a fun environment
– Heaven Creamery – the tastiest & silkiest ice cream
– Denver Beer Co – a great hangout for good beer and outdoor seating
– Arvada Beer Garden – a new great spot for food and drinks
– Edgewater Marketplace – something for everyone & a great work/eat/drink location

Hikes:
– Panorama Point @ Bear Creek Trail – closer to Denver & great views!
– Cherry Creek Reservoir – a great off leash dog are with a creek
– Eldorado Canyon State Park – so beautiful & not too far of a drive

Activities:
– Go to a concert at Red Rocks – it’s true, it’s the best music venue
– Hike a 14er – so challenging, but so rewarding
– White water rafting – better at the beginning of the summer, but a blast
– Bike/Mountain Biking – there are so many trails to explore

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shoutout my husband, DJ, who gave me the courage and the push I needed to take the leap into becoming a full-time mortgage broker. He’s been a constant source of encouragement, reminding me that the challenging seasons are just stepping stones toward the amazing ones & that things will work out the way they should. He celebrates my wins, big and small, and stands by me through the tougher moments. I wouldn’t be on this journey without him, and I’m so grateful to have a partner who truly sees and supports my dreams.
