We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristen Mennona and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristen, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
My counseling business helps the community by providing teens, parents and adults with a intentional space to explore life’s stressors. The counseling sessions are designed to be a sacred space that is different than other aspects of daily living. The goal is to have a container for the many experiences and emotions one may be carrying.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Nurture Family Counseling began as a dream for me. I wanted to own my counseling practice so I could prioritize my career and having a family. As a working mother, it was important to me to create a space where kids and families could come to sort out developmental milestones, family struggles, life transitions and grief. As the practice grew, I expanded to serve college students and adult individuals. I have found my adult clients to be delightful, as they can dive deep into meaning-making in sessions.
This practice is founded on the principle of integrity. This is because without a trusting relationship, I would not expect clients to share their most vulnerable experiences with me. It is an honor to do this work.
As a working mother, the biggest challenge I face is that both my clients and my family need my attention, often during the same times. I work some hours after school so that I can see my adolescent clients and this is the same time my own children could benefit from having my support. We do the best we can to work around this, but as a professional mother, I often feel like there is not enough of me to go around.
I am excited to shared. that in 2023 I co-wrote a book and self-published my first book. Becoming an author has been a dream of mine and I am thrilled to share my clinical insights through writing. Please check out my book, “Body As Nature: A Body Appreciation Journal” on Amazon.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Kimberly Stokka Merendino and Suvi Miller have been immensely supportive of my on my career path. They are my colleagues at my practice and they have witnessed me build my brand, write and launch my first book as well as celebrate wins along the way. They are both heart-centered therapists that do amazing work with children in need.
