We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristopher Laskowski and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristopher, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I had no intentions to start my own business. This has been a slow progressive journey. The product I had developed gained some interest over the years. It was suggested that I get a patent on it. I then decided to start selling the product publicly using a Shopify account to handle orders.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
For as long as I can remember I have always been or tried to be ver efficient with whatever it is that I’m doing. Whether it be getting dressed in the morning and making breakfast, or completing a simple task at work, I want to do it as easy and as quickly as possible. I’m always looking for an advantage in anything I do. What is the most efficient way to get the job done? How can I be faster? How can I make my team faster? What would improve our day to day operations? In a nutshell, here is my background: I graduated from Francis Marion University, SC (The Swamp Fox) with a B.S. in Biology. I worked directly or indirectly with pathogens/viruses /microbiologics for nearly 20 years for a handful of companies (diagnostics, pharmaceutical, micro biologic companies). During that time I trained heavily with small arms weapons. I started a private security company with another individual. Soon after we were under DOD contract. After some disagreements with the business, I decided to walk away. I got into competitive shooting (3 Gun) shortly after. I enjoyed it but it was expensive and very time consuming. I got into building more guns and “designing” them. I was again, obsessed with putting parts together that didn’t quite fit or were told that they “wouldn’t work together.” I was into building shorter rifle platforms. This meant less real estate for accessories. I liked running an Inforce WML on my top rail and did not have much room for a front post. This is where I came up with the idea for the Front Post Ring.

At first the ring was said by other to be the best idea in at least the past 10 years, or it was said to have been the most ignorant. I slowly moved forward with the product only after I know that the majority of the feedback was a positive one.

I learned very quickly, you can’t please everyone and that no matter what you do, how great you are, how many people you help, there will always be haters.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to any of the numerous breweries and or distilleries in the area. Depending on the time of year, Keenland race track is a must (this is horse country or out on a houseboat for a few days (close to the houseboat capital of the world). If water isn’t your thing, we could go see the Red River Gorge, get a cabin and grill out every night under the stars (Red River Gorge is a hidden gem).

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would just like to thank all the people who believed in the product. Their support is what kept me moving forward with product and helped me maintain a positive attitude on this journey.
