Meet Kyoya López | Photographer, Streamer & Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyoya López and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kyoya, why did you pursue a creative career?
There are a collection of things that made me pursue streaming and content creation. It was always my dream to become some sort of content creator, with one of my main goals being to someday be in a YouTube Rewind video; not because of fame or because I saw rich youtubers, but because I always wanted make a career out of my likes and hobbies. Seeing all my favorite youtubers when I was younger, made me want to start doing the same thing. Having a way to be creative and think of ideas that might be engaging to people, making entertainment!
I started uploading videos on TikTok back in 2019 after YouTube and Twitch didn’t work for me. A simple video of an apple and a Tootsie Roll got me my first 1,000 views which kicked off the content creation part of my career. Shortly after meeting other TikTok Live streamers and becoming friends, I decided to also pursue the streamer part. Becoming one of the few streamers who’s content is in multiple languages: Portuguese, English and Spanish.
Photography became a huge passion for me after getting a phone that had a great camera. I took photos of everyday random things and tried to learn to edit using free apps on the App Store. Shortly after high school, I got my first camera – which I remember was the Canon T7i – which kicked off that part of my creative career. Having more control over my photos and being able to tell stories through a simple image. My most recent major event being the No King’s March in Denver, Colorado.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe that the thing that sets me apart from other streamers or content creators is the fact that I can appeal for a wide variety of people due to my content being in Portuguese, English and Spanish; I’m able to reach more countries and people that might be interested in my content which includes gaming, Pokémon, archery, 3D printing and photography. This allows me to also reach more people because I am not staying in 1 specific niche.
The fact that I am an Mexican-American speaking Portuguese is also a thing that sets me apart, at least in Brazil where most of my following is. Might be the fact that a “Gringo” speaking Portuguese is interesting and people love it when someone embraces your culture.
Though the views are like a roller-coaster, we need to keep in mind that that is how it works sometimes! There’s ups and downs but it shouldn’t be a reason to give up! Especially when it is something that you really want to do or that you have a passion for! If you want to be a streamer and make a career out of it, it’s not going to happen over night and we have to work for it!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Interesting Question!
If it were to be in Denver, I would take them to the Denver Art Museum! It is one of my favorite places in the world! Followed by the Denver Museum of Nature and Science so they can see the Denver skyline with the mountains in the background; a very scenic place in my opinion! If they are up to the challenge, the Manitou Incline is also a great place to go to test one’s stamina! If not the Manitou Incline, then a quick hike (8 hours) to the top of Mount Elbert!
If in São Paulo, the Museu de Arte de São Paulo will definitely be one of the places! (Can you tell I Like Museums?) Followed by my favorite coffee place: Tokki Today! There are many parks to walk around in São Paulo especially Ibirapuera Park; because, who doesn’t enjoy a nice walk? Finishing the day with some sushi in Liberdade, the Japanese section of São Paiulo!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are multiple people that inspired me to in general! Definitely childhood youtubers such as Ryan Higa, D-Trix, and even Smosh! People that one day just grabbed a camera and decided to start recording videos because they had fun doing and never saw it as a career but instead as a way to connect with people and give them entertainment.
Most recently, I definitely have friends to thank some who are streamers themselves. Friends that pushed me to continue streaming and making content even when I wanted to give up. Yunna, Japa, Dani, Julia to mention a few! Amo Vocês e obrigado por me apoiar!
And as my streamer or content creator knows, we wouldn’t be anything without our viewers! I would like to thank and every single one of them for watching even when I am simply fixing my 3D printers! They’re the ones that deserve all the recognition! Amo vocês Coxinhas!
