We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Zietz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laura, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I know it’s cliche to say, but I really do love what I do. Being self employed can either be debilitating or exhilarating. I have days, weeks, months that I feel both of these feelings within moments of each other. I am an obsessive over achiever, I put a lot of thought into how I want my business to look from the outside and how it makes people feel to work with me. With the support of Sotheby’s International Real Estate behind me it adds to the experience for my clients. The majority of my business is from past clients or realtor to realtor referrals within the brand. I work hard to nurture and grow these relationships. In the end if you stay consistent, commit to always being honest, fair and hardworking things continue to grow. Business is like a garden, you have to sow and fertilize in order to harvest.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I work daily to fill myself back up so I have goodness and energy to give back to my clients and support staff. I work diligently on self growth and learning from past experience and mistakes. It’s necessary for me to wake up and have time alone to pray, meditate and reflect on gratitude. Being grateful is one of the most important factors for my personal and business growth. Grateful for times when things are tough that you can learn, grow and recognize when times are easier.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Grand County. We are the best spot for all things Colorado. From the ski area in Winter Park to the entry of Rocky Mountain National Park. Depending on when you are visiting depends on the activities that dictate our fun.
Because I love all summer activities this is the best time to come visit me!
Coffee at my favorite coffee shop, Rocky Mountain Roastery
Morning Hike around Monarch Lake, this is an easy 1.5 hour hike that we may have the opportunity to see a moose on.
Yoga at Granby yoga barn. I love Michelle’s classes
A afternoon filled with horseback riding, something I do 5-6 days per week in the summer.
Lunch at Sage Brush grille in Grand Lake
Cross fit class at Stand Firm Cross fit in the afternoon
Dinner at Adventures Decanted in Winter Park, my absolute favorite place.
Followed by a night cap of ice cream at Miyauchi’s on the lake in Grand Lake
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am a Christian, pray and faith are my saving grace. I am consistently listing to podcast, books and have a group of realtors in different markets on group chat that I reach out to for support. We are part of a coaching group under one mentor and this group and mentor has been a huge support system, Real Estate is very competitive and at times feels like it can steal your soul, having friends in the business that can lift you up is something I feel is so very important.
