We had the good fortune of connecting with Leah Lewis & Brittany Schoede and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leah Lewis & Brittany Schoede, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Event planning strikes a beautiful balance between creative design and precise attention to detail. Oftentimes, people associate creativity with being disorganized—but because we are both very analytical and tenacious, it actually allows us to be even more creative and artistic in our career as event planners. We love to make order out of the planning chaos! Once all of the logistics are finalized, the opportunities to create magical, memorable moments are limitless.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
With 20 collective years of event planning and production experience, we decided to form our own event planning company, Ten-Four Events, to further our passion for creating one-of-a-kind experiences. The two of us work in tandem to execute every element of the event, and this teamwork is what sets us apart in an industry that can be very isolating and competitive. We provide every client with personalized attention and enthusiasm for bringing their unique vision to life. Event planning is inherently a bumpy road, and the greatest challenge is managing the expectations of our clients. As is the nature of any event, issues will arise. The role of a planner is to solve problems in real-time, while under immense pressure and with very few resources. If we’ve done our job well, the client should have no idea there were ever any setbacks. We are most excited about all of the events we have yet to plan in the future—every new event brings new challenges and opportunities to create something special and never done before!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Prior to starting our own event planning business, we both worked in Event Services at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Through countless weddings, fundraising galas, corporate summits, holiday parties and Broadway shows, we are so grateful for all of the unbelievably talented people who we had the opportunity to learn from over the years. Our backgrounds (and the people we worked with) in television production and luxury magazine publishing also helped shape who we are and how we approach every event that we produce.
