We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsay Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsay, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Everything that was ever worthwhile in my life was a risk. I came from an antiquated system of healthcare that I absolutely loved. I loved working in internal medicine and treating patients. When I started doing this, I knew it was my life’s work. But I quickly found the limitations of western medicine. When I was spending 5-10 minutes a day with my patients with multiple diagnoses and complaints, that’s when I knew I had to make a career change.

I went from an industry I had studied for 8 years to a business owner overnight- based on a gut feeling. Now, years later, I recognize that this decision… and every decision since then made with my gut intuition was the best one for me. I started studying the brain-body connection. I had a deep desire to help people understand the body’s innate ability to heal. And that’s when I started Vital-Side, a brain retraining program for people with chronic illnesses. We teach people how to regulate their nervous systems, so they can find sustainable changes to their physical symptoms. This is a beautiful part of medicine- one that feels aligned with my personal mission on this earth.

And now I know, the more risks I take that feel aligned and connected to my purpose, rewards will soon follow.

What should our readers know about your business?
We offer a modern and flexible approach to brain retraining. I am so excited by the thousands of people who are impacted by our methodology that we teach in Vital-Side. It is because of them that I continue to show up – stories of people recovering from food sensitivities they have had for years, pain that goes away after improving the brain-body connection, and autoimmune diseases going into remission after using these tools. Almost daily, I am in tears over the complexity and intricacy of our beautiful brains and how they impact our bodies.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Austin, Tx, which is one of my fav cities ever (not just because I live here!) I would take them to Fresa’s for my favorite chicken, and we’d spend some time outside in the local watering holes like Barton Springs. I’d also take them dancing on the east side !

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am grateful & so thankful to the support system in my life- my loving husband who always believed in turning my pain into passion and my passion into purpose. My mom and sister have always been supporters in my life; my mom initially piqued my interest in medicine since she is a female general surgeon in a primarily male dominated field. I also have many others in my life that have inspired me and that I’ve looked up to including friends, business coaches, and of course, the Vital-Side team who has been the backbone of my business for years.
