We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Doll and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lisa, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
As an award winning tattoo artist, board certified trainer, and founder of a successful tattoo academy I help empower fellow artists and students to pursue their dream careers in the field. Through my studio and training courses, I provide valuable resources and guidance on everything from learning the craft of tattooing to navigating the business side of being a professional tattoo or permanent makeup artist. I also take on clients myself, creating custom, personalized tattoos for them that they love and appreciate. Through my work, I am helping to strengthen and advance the tattooing community both locally and nationally.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a tattoo artist and academy owner, I take great pride in my work, my relationship with my clients, and teaching others the craft. My trainings are not to just make a buck with no regard to it’s impact on the trade, I authentically want to be proud of the success of my students and the amazing work they will do.
Getting to where I am professionally was not an easy road. It took years of hard work and dedication and that will continue as I grow. I experienced set backs like debt, health complications, hard lessons, and it required a spit fire passion to get where I am today. But it was all worth it in the end, because I love creating art and teaching what I know and that’s makes it all worth it when someone tells me that I’m making a difference in their lives.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have never been to Denver but I am actually planning on visiting this year and maybe doing a guest spot somewhere! I want to ride on some old timey railroads and go on ghost tours. One of my favorite things about ghost tours is not even the macabre topics, it’s the fun history you learn about the area and the people who built it that you won’t see in a museum.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I think a commonly overlooked show of gratitude that is partially responsible for who you are today, would be to the anyone who ever tried to get in your way. The “haters,” if you will! Anytime in my life where someone misled me, directed hate my way or some other physical or emotional obstacle, in many cases the negative experience actually taught me a lot and made me a better and stronger version of myself. Some of those situations have actually fueled my fire to create the very training programs and business model that is very successful for me today! Sometimes being shown what not to do, or how to be, is worth it’s weight in gold.
