We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Nichols and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
As a boudoir photographer, I think the impact on the community has the potential to be great! I make it my personal mission to remind women that they are powerful, beautiful creatures. I want to empower women of all shapes, sizes, and ages. Moms, and women in general, are held to impossible beauty standards and constantly told what they should look like. They often forget that they are more than just “Mom” or always caring for everybody else before themselves. Ashley Nichols Boudoir gives them a day to themselves, a day of pure hype from other women, and they always leave seeing themselves in a new light and a new level of confidence. Empowering women is extremely important to the community, so that we may continue to rule the world!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets my art apart from others, is that I work with purely natural light. I don’t like to use, so I don’t, a bunch of studio lighting. I also do not over edit, or over “Photoshop”, my clients. I want to celebrate what a women actually looks like in her current body, not turn her into a completely different person. I think this can be hard because sometimes a woman’s first question to me is, “Can you make me look skinny?”, and I have to say absolutely not! I WILL, however, make your true beauty absolutely shine. I have studied and learned how to flatter a woman’s body with that natural light and posing, so there’s no need to really edit too much. I want the world to know that Ashley Nichols Boudoir can be a safe place to celebrate your body and find your power again.›

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am VERY new to the area, so I’m not super familiar yet. However, one of my favorite places to go to clear my mind and find some peace in all of the crazy of life, is Garden of the Gods park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give a shoutout to my husband, family, and friends. They have all been nothing but supportive when I told them I wanted to start my own boudoir photography business. From helping me create my studio, watching my kids while I work or taking them to/from school, to just cheering me on through the highs and lows of starting and running my own small business. Their support means everything to me.
