Meet Lisa Sayed | Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Sayed and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lisa, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
At Tails Trails n Treats, our goal is to make life easier for busy pet parents while keeping their furry companions happy, healthy, and active. With today’s busy schedules and the constant juggle of work, family, and everything in between, it can be hard to fit in all the walks, playtime, and cuddles our pets deserve. That’s where we come in! Whether it’s a mid-day dog walk, an outdoor hiking adventure, or some loving care while you’re away, we’re here to help pets stay happpy and healthy, and give owners peace of mind.
But our mission doesn’t stop there. We care deeply about the community we’re part of and believe pets help bring people together. We love supporting local shelters, promoting pet adoptions, and showing up at community events that celebrate our furry friends.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
After spending 11 years in the finance world in New York and Chicago, I was ready for a change both personally and professionally. The mountains were calling, and I knew I wanted to do something that felt more meaningful to me. Animals have always been a huge part of my life, so when I moved to Denver, I started offering dog walking services in my pet-friendly apartment building just to make a little extra money while I figured out my next step. It didn’t take long for me to realize that this “side gig” was something special. Caring for pets and helping their owners brought me so much joy and fulfillment. Before I knew it, what started as a few walks a week had grown into a full-time business — and I haven’t looked back since.
It definitely hasn’t always been easy! COVID was a really challenging time. With so many people suddenly working from home, dog walking wasn’t something most people needed anymore. A few amazing clients kept scheduling walks to support me, but many understandably had to cancel. That experience pushed me to take a step back and really rethink how I could best support pet parents in this “new normal.” I got creative, adjusted my services, and focused on what people needed most – flexibility, pet sitting, and outdoor adventures. It taught me how important it is to stay adaptable, and reminded me just how strong and supportive our community truly is.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that this is not a one-size-fits-all business. Every pet, and every pet parent, has their own unique personality, routine, and needs. What works for one family might not work for another, and that’s okay! To truly succeed in this industry, you have to take the time to listen, build trust, and tailor your services to each individual client. We are not just here to provide a service, we are building lasting relationships based on trust and love for their pets.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Whenever friends come to visit, I love showing off our mountains! Depending on the season, we’ll spend a few days hiking and camping or hitting the slopes in the winter. Crested Butte, Aspen, and Steamboat are a few of my favorite mountain towns!
My new favorite place to dine and drink in Denver is Outside Pizza/Cerebral Brewing. They have the BEST pizza and sour beers! Barcelona Wine Bar is another go-to for great tapas and wine. And if it’s concert season, we are definitely hitting a show at Red Rocks!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My incredible team of dog walkers and sitters absolutely deserve recognition in my story. I wouldn’t be where I am today without their hard work, reliability, and genuine love for the animals we care for. They treat every pet as if it were their own and bring so much heart and dedication to what they do. I am so grateful to have such a caring and dependable team.
