Meet Lizzethe Medrano | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lizzethe Medrano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lizzethe, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
When the pandemic hit on March 2020 I was pregnant and bored at home. My husband bought me some art supplies because I had some ideas for painting rocks for our garden. It was just what I needed as a distraction at the time. Then I painted an art piece for my mom, she loved it and I loved the feeling of making people happy with my art. For this reason I decided to give art a try. Over time making art and trying to make different styles of art has become something that I love doing. It has given me a great happiness to see how people love and appreciate my art.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art pieces are big, small, and colorful in a way that they set me apart in the town. Most all of my prices are affordable since my main intention is not to make lots of money but to make enough to keep buying supplies to be able to keep enjoying making art and make something that makes others happy. It makes me really happy when I am at my presentation at an art walk and I see a smile when they look at my art or I hear a wow. Although many times they don’t end up buying a piece, that reaction really makes my day and of course when they purchase one it makes me happy/excited to know I can keep creating. It hasn’t been easy but with everyones kind support, lots of practice and patience with myself I am where I am now. I intend to continue trying my hardest to learn new technics and grow as an artist. I have learned that not all the time my art pieces come out exactly as I had envisioned them to be but learned to not get frustrated at myself, to truly enjoy, have some fun and try again. We view art in different ways and that is what makes it so special.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Even though Fort Morgan is a small rural area there is still many things to do. For example, if a friend was to come for a long weekend, i would invite them to go for a walk at Riverside park and enjoy the fresh air. After go for a healthy breakfast at Bun Appetit. Being that its a small town we could go walk through the middle of town and do some shopping in the local shops. For lunch grab a pizza at Cables Pub and Grill. Then go for a walk in the museum to show them the history of Fort Morgan (My daughter loves the little electric train that goes around on display). After the hot day enjoy a small ice cream treat from Michoacana Ice Cream Parlor. Then relax for the rest of the day.
The next day we would go visit my families ranch and enjoy the day doing various activities, Ride the horse, cook a carne asada, enjoy some drinks, feed the animals and ride on the 4wheeler around the property. When the sun comes down we could make a bonfire with some smores and enjoy the night watching the stars with the music on.
The following day we can have breakfast at Home Plate, then go for a bike ride at the park, play some basketball or volleyball and ride back home to change out for lunch. I would take them to Jacal (mexican food) one of our favorite places for lunch. Go bowling in the afternoon for some fun enjoy some snacks and food from there.
After a long two days we would go grab a coffee for some energy at our favorite coffee spot Peppys and grab some Mexican sweet bread from Rositas Bakery. Go for a walk on the Rainbow Bridge and admire the view of the Platte River. For lunch grab some tacos at San Miguels Restaurant and go to the local Cover 4 Theather to watch a movie.
All in all it would be a great time together.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Definitely my family for all of their support and all the art supplies they bought me. I previously mentioned, I was pregnant and a stay at home mom, I didn’t work so they lovingly bought everything for me to get started. I also want to thank Family Vision Center in Fort Morgan, Colorado for their support and having my art on display at their business. The Town of Fort Morgan for inviting me to display my art at various art walks held at different businesses within the town. A special thanks to everyone who has supported by purchasing my art pieces.
