We had the good fortune of connecting with Lorenzo Chavez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lorenzo, what do you want your legacy to be?
That I loved my Wife, Family, Friends and creating Art.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well, the journey of discovery in the arts is never ending I love that being creative is just as challenging now as in the beginning. It never fails to keep me digging deeper and being open to learning. I love painting landscape the most, but I really enjoy exploring all the other areas of subjects Figure, Portrait, City scenes and Abstracts. What i have learned along the way is to have patience and a willingness to explore new ideas.
It has not always been easy, but it has always been a work of passion. I have learned to overcome obstacles by reminding myself why I wanted to go into the arts in the first place and that reason is still the main reason I live for a creative life; it is my love for and passion for the arts.
I hope people feel my love of my subjects and my love of the creative process.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I would take them to the Denver Art Museum and to concerts at Red Rocks and day trip up into the mountains. There are so many great options for dinning but i would have them experience restaurants that have stood the test of time and possibly some great new restaurants. Visit to the local National Parks would be a big priority. Our beautiful Landscape is what make living here so special.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I love to shoutout the importance of family, teachers along our journey of growth and discovery, good friends who support our creative journey. Mentors and supporters of the arts like Gallery owners, Museum directors, art curators, art writers, art schools and mostly the many the art collectors who believe in and invest in our creative efforts. But most of all I have been blessed to have been with and been in love with a very good partner, my wife Dolores of 38 years, she has always been my biggest fan and supporter and advisor all these years. Nothing would have happened without her love and wisdom. We also have been very blessed to raise two fine young men who I love and am proud of and who I have continuedly learned so much from. So many great books that have brought inspiration and wisdom at the time i needed it most. I try to always be a student and learn from every experience. I believe in having a Beginners mind and being open and full of possibility to learning.
