We had the good fortune of connecting with Lori Corken and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lori, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
From selling timeshares to selling multi-million-dollar homes, my interest was always in how to best help my clients achieve their dreams. I have a passion for my clients and their families, seeing them with a big smile at the end of a transaction is what I continue to work for. This passion for creating joy for others was instilled in me from a young age as I jumped into my career. I started with a larger brokerage and quickly learned that I could not support my clients the way I felt they deserved under their constrictions. This led me to open my own brokerage to allow a true concierge-style service to our clients. Whether it’s a multi-million dollar home or a new office space for their company, my team and I can handle every real estate need of our client. From the very first step of any real estate transaction, I am available and ready to help. When you’re looking for a broker, look for one that cares for you first rather than the product. This is how my company was created and how we approach each and every client today.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Corken + Company is a Denver-based luxury real estate firm specializing in residential and corporate real estate sales, leasing, and relocation services. From commercial and residential real estate to relocation services, to property management–we offer something for everyone.

Our mission is to provide a unique, concierge-style approach to Denver real estate. This takes the stress and involvement away from you as a client and delivers a tailored, seamless experience. Our experts extend beyond the boundaries of traditional high-end realty. We believe in partnership. Working with our team means you receive a personalized, innovative approach. Hire a firm focused around your needs and vision.

I have been working in the Denver real estate market for more than 20 years. I have the tenacity to achieve results for my clients. It has earned me a reputation of being a tough negotiator by my peers, an attentive listener to my clients, and an engaging leader in the community. I’ve received numerous accolades over the years including being an eight-time recipient of the coveted Five Star Professional for Real Estate Award.

Although I have succeeded in my real estate career, my passion is helping others. I started my own series a year ago called the Power Of A Voice. After having a stroke in 2019, I would open up to people about my struggles and people would tell me their personal stories. I knew I had to do something to help people get their stories out but ultimately help others who are also struggling. Our guests speak about their personal trials and triumphs, business accolades, and special projects. Ultimately, I am having open conversations and allowing both my guests and myself to be vulnerable while sharing touching stories. I say that if I can help one person with the series, then I have done my job. This is very different from my real estate career, but one that I am so passionate about.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Depending on the time of the year they came, I would definitely take them to either a Broncos, Rockies, or Avalanche game. This is the best atmosphere I have ever seen. There is something about the Mile High City and its supporters. There is nothing better than hearing thousands of fans having the time of their lives.

There are so many cool places to visit in Denver. LoDo, or Lower Downtown, is the go-to place for trendy eateries, artisan coffee, and boutique and vintage shopping. The River North Art District, aka RiNo, is the unofficial art capital of Denver – billing itself as the destination “where art is made” – with street art, art galleries, and studios dotted all around. Meanwhile, RiNo’s historic warehouses and factory buildings also play host to music venues, restaurants, and breweries.

If you are into fitness, Wash Park is the place to go. On weekends you will see hundreds of people running the park, playing tennis, and volleyball, riding bikes, and just having picnics. Awesome place to be.

Cherry Creek, a high-end shopping and dining district, is only about a five-minute ride from Downtown Denver. Central to the area is the Cherry Creek Shopping Center, a mall with more than 160 stores, including Burberry and Louis Vuitton. The district also features Cherry Creek North, an outdoor shopping area with 16 blocks of art galleries, independent boutiques, and upscale dining options.

Red Rocks amphitheater for a concert, you will never want to see a concert anywhere else. What a venue what a place. It will leave an imprint on your life forever!

A trip to the Rocky Mountains is also a must. Whether you ski or are just a ski bunny we have it all. Breckenridge for a day of skiing, Vail for a night’s getaway, and Aspen for your skiing plus boutique shops. Our Rockies are the best in the world.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I was always outspoken and driven. I knew what I wanted and how to go and get it. I knew that my life was going to be something that was impactful and my dad was a large influence on me. He taught me how to work hard, how to be respectful, how to love those close to me, and how to overcome challenges. Growing up my interest was always in real estate and connecting with people driven by the influence of my Dad.
