Meet MacKenzie Koncher | Artist, Intuitive Reader, Reiki Master, Paranormal Investigator, Underwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with MacKenzie Koncher and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi MacKenzie, what makes you happy? Why?
“What” makes me happy isn’t so much of a “what”, as it is a “who”, a “where”, a “when”…I am extremely blessed and fortunate enough to have so many special people in my life. Waking up next to my husband, Erasmo, or giving him a kiss when he gets home from a long day at work is one of the best parts of my day. Enjoying the experience of a delicious meal or tasty beverage with him, exploring a new town or city while traveling, or having mini adventures with him and creating memories makes me happy. I’m so incredibly grateful for the time I have been able to spend with our two dogs, Summer and Papillon – they make me smile and bring me so much joy every day. The love, warmth, and support I feel from family and our friends who have become family make my soul happy.
Getting outdoors and being in nature – whether that be hiking, fly fishing with my husband and our friends, or looking up at the stars and moon while my husband shoots photos – finding the magic, makes me happy.
Exploring the unknown and mysteries in life on paranormal investigations with the other ladies and friends on my team, makes me happy.
Thought provoking conversations with great company makes me happy.
Building a community and closeness with other women where we can empower each other, makes me happy.
Being in my garage (my current art studio), dancing to music, and creating something beautiful – not quite knowing what the outcome will be – and creating something with love and positive intentions, makes me happy.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is unique in that I am a Reiki Master and I infuse all of my art with reiki. Reiki is a hands-on, Japanese form of alternative medicine which emerged in the late 1800’s and is commonly referred to as energy healing. The term comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” which is vital life force energy that flows through all living things. People see reiki practitioners for treatments to help relax, reduce stress, pain, anxiety, fatigue and more. Reiki can also be infused into objects to remove negative energy and to create a more peaceful, soothing, and harmonious environment. I infuse my paintings with reiki and intentions of good energy, relaxation, good health, love, and happiness for whoever may own my art. I also call in the angels and ask them to assist me in creating the pieces and to bring those good intentions into my art.
My art business is still growing and evolving. More people are learning about it over time. I have an incredible amount of respect for any business owner, as even my small art business is a lot of time, energy, and work. I’m so grateful for my husband helping me to figure out some of the ins and outs, and to help me get everything up and running. I’m constantly asking him for help and advice, and he’s so patient even while he’s trying to open his second business.
My overall brand is to bring more love, light, happiness, beauty, and healing into the world. All of my pieces are made with love and positive intentions, and my hope is that my art brings happiness and good energy to the space where it is hanging, and to whoever is viewing it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
*Shameless plug for Create Cooking School and Bar – we take all of our friends and family here for at least a drink. If you’re looking for a fun date night, this is the perfect night out as you learn how to make the tastiest food, enjoy some delicious beverages, listen to great music, and the warmth in the space makes it so fun and inviting! There are so many people we know who have made friends and there is an amazing community. *Annette at the Stanley Marketplace – Chef Caroline is incredibly talented, and everything I have ever eaten at this restaurant is incredible
*Cooper Lounge for getting your fancy on and having some delicious cocktails
*Roosevelt and Front Porch downtown for when you want to have a fun night out
*Tavernetta at Union Station – amazing food and service, always
*Jubilee Roasting Company – my new favorite coffee shop – I’m in love with the Blondie
*Revolte Goods and Trunk Noveau to find the perfect gifts
*Cosmic Tea metaphysical shop – I love this kickass women of color owned business. The vibe here is great, and they are always having events like full moon or new moon ceremonies, readings, etc.
*L&L Hawaiian BBQ, Katsu Ramen, Pho 99, Seoul for Korean BBQ
Not physical locations – but places to support and check out – Designed Life Delivered (home decor subscription box), Tiny Dog Leather Studio (for purses and all of your leather goods, and they donate to the Children’s Tumor Foundation), Denver Home Organizing for all of your organizing needs, Lux & Luca for jewelry

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shout out to my husband, Erasmo Casiano. Erasmo is also a business owner, and I could not have created this business without his constant help and support. There are so many things I didn’t know when starting a business, and he has been so patient and supportive – from taking photos of my art, to helping me create a website, to helping me set up at pop-up events, to letting me hold pop-ups at his cooking school/bar, to promoting me, and so much more (and all while running his own business and starting up another). His support and belief in me has finally helped me to be able to identify as and formally accept myself as an artist.
Thanks so much to all of my artist friends who I have been able to reach out to for advice. Thank you to all of my friends and family who have supported me in this journey.
