We had the good fortune of connecting with Mallorie Porter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mallorie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Doing hair has been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. When I decided to finally turn my passion into a career, I knew I wanted to own my own salon one day. I knew it would take a lot of hard work to get there. I have been doing hair professionally since 2011, and I just opened my own salon in July 2020! I worked very hard to build my clientele up, and am always dedicating myself to continuing my education. When you are truly passionate about something and you put in the hard work, it pays off!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets my work apart from other hairstylists is the amount of care I put into it. I truly love what I do and I love making my clients feel beautiful. I take the time to really listen to what my clients want and offer thoughtful suggestions. You can expect to see the same care in every detail of my salon space and experience.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have had a lot of support in my career, and so many amazing mentors. However, I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my husband, Joe. He has encouraged me from day one and believed that I could open my own salon before I even believed it myself. He is always pushing me to continue to grow and be the best I can be. Opening my own salon was not without obstacles, but he was right there helping me over-come every one.
