We had the good fortune of connecting with Mandi Pacer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mandi, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
During my undergrad pursuit at CU Denver, I encountered a marketing professor named Peter Max Miller. Undoubtedly, he left his mark as an impressionable mentor in my early adulthood. I will never forget his very prolific and wise words, “YOU are the most important product you will ever sell!” Nothing rings more true as I had set foot into Corporate America and now entering my thirties as a small business owner. I try to keep this statement in mind with how I conduct myself and treat other people whether it’s in a professional or personal sense. If you can sell something you’ll never go hungry, if you can build a loyal, genuine relationship with a customer or client you’ll be able to enjoy the finer things in life like the occasional fine dining night out.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
By the textbook definition I am not an artist, but instead a visionary. I’ve had the distinguished privilege of sourcing incredible local artists and vendors for my recently opened Creative Co-Op in Morrison, The Moxi Poppy. In building this electrically eclectic and wonderfully whimsical space, I’ve also collaborated with many of my artists on projects that could be monetized. While I do not know how to sew, drill, woodwork, etc., and my painting skills are nothing to write home about, my creative brain is infinite and never sleeps. I love brainstorming ideas with an artist in a certain realm I may not be well-versed in. Perhaps, you could say I am passionate about imploring others to pursue their true talents and broaden their horizons. In addition to running my brick-and-mortar, I also partner with other small businesses on their digital media and branding strategy. I consider myself a wizard of words, appreciate a good pun, and fortunately, creative content & copywriting come rather naturally to me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The tippy top of any Coloradan’s list should be to show off Red Rocks to a visiting tourist! Between the scenic views and hiking trails this park offers, and the iconic venue that’s hosted some notable names in lights, a good chunk of time could be spent here alone simply marveling at the greatness. Surrounding this iconic landmark, the charming towns of Golden and Morrison aren’t to be missed! Some local retail therapy at the shops on both strips, a Coors Brewery Tour, and a fun dinner at The Morrison Inn (margaritas strong enough to have you floating down the river) to round off a day. Other must-see spots to add to the itinerary include The Great National Sand Dunes, Mt. Princeton Hot Springs, and Boulder’s Pearl Street.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My brother was by far the biggest catalyst in undertaking a small business venture. He has pep talked me for years and encouraged me to pursue my own small business knowing that I had the grit and glory to do so. I dismissed his advice and insights in the beginning because I was keen on climbing the Corporate Ladder and breaking the “Glass Ceiling”, as a woman. I liked “coloring inside the lines” – having a steady paycheck, benefits, and health insurance – and considered myself risk-averse. He tried and failed at least a dozen times in his unique journey, and in many ways that deterred me from giving it a second thought. He finally found his big break a few years ago and he’s flourishing now! It only took a pandemic, finishing my MBA, and being turned down for countless job pursuits, for me to eventually realize my true potential as an entrepreneur.
