Meet Margaret spring: mountain endurance coach, trail runner, influencer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Margaret spring and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Margaret, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important actor behind my success is to continue to be my authentic self and consistently show up for my goals. I work a little each day on my goals and each day brings me one step further in my journey.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been running for over 30 years. I personally held myself back a lot due to fears of failure. There have been several times in the past where I have told myself I wasn’t capable of a specific time or goal. I avoided running with others and challenging myself for fear of failure. Over the last couple of years with the guidance of Anna Mae Flynn I began to challenge myself in my running career. I have been hitting times and developing new skills with confidence. Once I allowed myself to believe in me, I saw how important it is to inspire and encourage others. I began coaching and meeting up with other women to run. I have been able to help encourage and lead people to new successes. I have also helped people become more confident and comfortable on the trails. Through my instagram platform I have used my humor to inspire others to try new things. I have been able to interview several professionals on the Instagram live platform. This has provided my community with information on topics such as nutrition, mental health, trail running, training, and coaching. I have also been able to share my successes in my running journey which has inspired others to get out and find the joy in challenging themselves.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the city of Denver and there are so many great local trails. My favorite thing to do is wake up before the sunrises and hit the trails. I would take my best friend on sunrise adventures to my favorite trails. Mt. Falcon, Green Mountain, North table mountain, Apex, Chimney Gulch, and White ranch. I love local donut stops following morning adventures. Some favorites include Berkeley Park Donuts, Pandemic donuts, and Voodoo donuts, Neighborhood afternoon walks around Sloans lake with an epic view of Denver’s sky line is a great way to spend the afternoon. The area of Tennyson is amazing for some fun shopping spots including Feral, Berkeley Supply Company, and Miller Lane. Favorite local restaurants include Fat Sully’s and Hops and Pie for Pizza, Himchuli for Indian food, Vital Root for the best Vegan food, and Allegro for coffee.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My running coach Anna Mae Flynn (owner of Mountain Endurance Coaching) has been my mentor in my journey towards coaching as well as my mentor in running. She has a passion for creating community. She inspired me to become a running coach and attain my coaching certification. She has also encouraged me to dream big with my running goals and has recognized potential in me that has pushed me to attain goals I had never dreamed were possible.
