Meet Maria | Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner, founder and owner.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Maria and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maria, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Well, the first thing that I can point out before starting my business is conceptualizing how it is going to be. It took me a really long time. It took lots of mental preparation and envisioning things before even taking first steps towards certification in beauty industry. I have always been working for someone first as RN and then as NP, most of the time at the hospital and never really approached application of my skills in a business field where I am the one who is responsible for everything.
Once things sort of settled in my mind it was much easier to bring it to life step-by-step. I am a very organized person and I am sure it has been helpful to me with starting my own business. It takes so many little things that need to fall in place as entire picture unfolds. Starting Still Time Beauty has certainly challenged me in many ways however it gives me joy to see it happen.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I truly believe that my medical career began before I even went to study medicine. Both of my parents are physicians and throughout my childhood I was always around patients, patients’ stories and and looking for ways to help them feel better and most importantly get back to their lives.
Thus, choosing medical career was a very natural path for me. I am from a different country and when I moved to United States at 19 years old on my own, I could not imagine going straight to medical school. Ultimately the most natural path was to enroll to nursing school to become a registered nurse which I did. It accomplished couple of my goals- one of them being in medical field and helping people, and another one is working with people directly. When I think about myself I know for sure that no matter what I do I have to work with people. I love to hear people’s stories, see what they are doing in life, figure out together with them what they need and how I can make things better. After working as a registered nurse for several years I decided to proceed with my bachelor’s degree and then ultimately masters as a nurse practitioner. By now I have been practicing as a nurse practitioner for 7 years and absolutely love it. I feel that I have lots of experience with patients and I am ready to take the next step that challenges me a bit further. Ultimately, Still Time Beauty was created. Once again I can continue being with my clients and do the things I love which is helping them to achieve what they are looking for.
I cannot say if it was easy or hard to get here but it certainly is a process. I feel it unfolds in a way it is supposed to and as a human being we have to hit each and every milestone to be able to move to the next one. It is great because I was able to learn something new at every step.
I think when challenges present themselves we should not look at them as punishments. Those are obstacles that naturally happen and by overcoming them we certainly become better, stronger and more equipped to meet other challenges along the way. I guess if we did not have any challenges life would be too boring and potentially would kill creativity and development of new things.
The main thing that I would like the world to know about Still Time Beauty is that my goal is not to reverse aging. We all age and it is great. It tells our story. We are getting more wise and more experienced. However, it does not mean that we should stop taking care of ourselves. The way we see the world is based on our inner confidence. That is why some people see a glass of water half-full and others see it half empty. It is the same thing with beauty. If something bothers you in your appearance and there is a fix for it, then it is time to get it taken care of. Others may not notice 1 or 2 lines disappear on your forehead or more glow in your skin, however, they will notice the inner light that gets a person going. And that is my main goal. If I can help people restore their confidence, that light that makes them feel wonderful today, then I think my mission has been accomplished.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
All right, if my best friend is coming to Boulder and Boulder area I would definitely plan our week in laid back, outdoorsy style. The very first thing that comes to my mind is Chautauqua Park where there is just so much to do. You can spend an entire day there and feel that you still have not seen everything. Hiking, just sitting in nature, eating at Dining Hall and then having some ice cream at the nearby shop is just perfect. If we are talking about hikes I also cannot forget Mount Sanitas and that would probably take another full day.
Of course Pearl Street and visiting Still Time Beauty that is located right there would be the highlight of our week together. 🙂 I certainly cannot omit that. Additionally Pearl Street is a wonderful hangout place where you can visit so many local shops, restaurants, and just enjoy street life.
As far as other places to eat I would point out Sherpa House in Boulder and La French cafe in Arapahoe Village.
And finally visiting Red Rocks Amphitheater is a must and if we are lucky enjoy a concert there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oh, this is the most wonderful question. Thank you so much for bringing it up. There are so many people who I owe endless thanks regarding what is going on with me and particularly bringing Still Time Beauty to life.
One of my biggest supporters, and help, and and my rock on day-to-day basis is my husband Norbert Ver. He has been alongside me since the very first thoughts of doing something on my own. He has been the biggest fan saying that it is possible, that I can do it and people will definitely love it. So many times when I was not sure he encouraged me not to give up, to see it all the way through. In addition he has been helping me with every single aspect of technical work to make sure the website, images, social media posts look amazing.
I have 2 little kids and they also have been incredibly helpful. They give me confidence when I am not sure and they do it in such a natural way that I cannot stop smiling and just go on. Their unconditional love gives me strength and certainly helps worries to dissipate.
Another very important person throughout this entire process is my wonderful friend and mentor Cynthia Sass from Tru Skincare. She has been guiding me step-by-step on what to do next, and most importantly helped me believe in myself when it was hard to do it on my own.
Of course, I cannot forget the rest of my family and my friends. Each and everyone of them got excited when I mentioned I am doing something on my own. There are so unbelievably supportive when they check on me, mention they will spread the word to their friends and so on that it just keeps me going every day.
