We had the good fortune of connecting with Mariah Gallegos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mariah, what role has risk played in your life or career?
“High risk high reward” — My whole life I’ve been a risk taker, but not in your typical adrenaline junkie kind of way. I’ve always went after whatever I’ve wanted in any aspect of my life. I go into every situation with the mentality that I have nothing to lose only gain. Every opportunity is a learning lesson, and I am only competing with myself. Taking risks has gotten me every opportunity I’ve been fortunate to experience, it is only going to help me continue to grow. I definitely have had my moments of “Was this the right move/decision?” “Is this going to help me grow or am I stepping backwards”. I always trust my intuition and fully stand behind my decision.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I like to think my super power is making you the most glam “you”. I think everyone deserves to feel beautiful in their own skin. Makeup can instantly change your mood, it can make you feel invincible! I always joke around saying clients come for the glam but stay for the personality! I genuinely feel like I connect with every client who sits in my chair. Especially after a bridal party, it feels like we are at one giant sleepover talking about makeup and boys! I feel connected to my clients and I think they feel the same way with me. I’m just a girl who loves makeup and loves making everyone feel beautiful! My style is definitely more full glam, which was super intimidating at first, not everyone loves a full face. Now that I’ve figured out how to target my ideal clientele, they find me and actually want to book me for my specialty! Having faith and believing in yourself definitely is the key to waiting it out. It definitely hasn’t been easy but every step has been worth it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friends and I can make the best time out of any situation! Throughout the week I would have to take them to dinner at The Roost in Longmont. Maybe a drive down to Estes Park for some sweet treats! And definitely go out in Denver for a fun night go dancing, after I glam everyone of course!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I appreciate everyone in my life this far who has shown me and my business nothing but love. My Mom who took me to the MAC store for a makeup lesson, my God Mother who bought me my first case to carry my supplies, family and friends who were my first clients. You’ve helped me grow my business from the ground up, with referrals, love, and endless support.
