We had the good fortune of connecting with Mariah Hodges and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mariah, what do you attribute your success to?
The willingness to pour 100% of myself into my designs and business. I have always had a fashion aesthetic that was a little out of the box and I have committed to creating a brand inspired by my personal aesthetic and passion for fun fashion.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Electric Bubblegum is a apparel and accessory brand that specializes in liquid glitter filled products and we create products that cannot be found anywhere else. Our goal is to create fearless, fun fashion that brings happiness and joy to the wearer. I am most proud of how far we have come in just 3 years. Electric Bubblegum started with just me and a tiny Etsy shop selling liquid glitter earrings and now we have grown into a small team with a wide range of liquid glitter products that sells through multiple avenues both retail and wholesale. It wasn’t easy. It has been filled with 24/7 work weeks, many challenges and problem solving everyday. The biggest lesson I have learned along the way is to not give up when things get hard. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many amazing places in Denver but I would definitely take them to quite a few restaurants here such as D Bar Denver, Watercourse, Bull & Bush, Red Ginger, Jerusalem, Linger, and Postino which are just some of my absolute favorites. We would also go to Little Man Ice cream for some deliciousness. In terms of fun, definitely Urban Putt and One Up! Putt putt and arcade games while you drink! Perfect way to spend a weekend night. Stanley market would be another place I would like to bring them with a great variety of boutiques and food. We would definitely make a stop at the Botanic Gardens and the Denver Zoo as well and hopefully to Red Rocks for a concert. I could go on forever but Denver and the surrounding areas have loads of great food, shopping and fun.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my parents. They have supported my fashion dreams from the time I was just 2 years old wanting to dress my own way to now running my own fashion business.
