We had the good fortune of connecting with Maribeth Ley Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I like to document my families in their truest forms. My photo sessions are meant to me a fun experience for my clients rather than a painful “say cheese” session. We hike, we run, we play, we laugh and we make memories. I like to document my newborn sessions in my family’s homes and approach the sessions as a “lifestyle” session. This gives my clients a sense of security as well as vulnerability as they’ve opened their home to me to document their world. All of this together creates a calming and stress-free environment for everyone and especially for baby. I like to document weddings with the bride and groom happiness at my center-focus. Weddings can be stressful and by letting my brides and grooms know I have their best interests at heart and I will advocate for their every needs, builds a bond between us, giving me their trust and therefore creating the wedding images they’ve been dreaming of. It’s important to me that I tell their story, individually and as a couple, by telling a story of their day through the eye of my lens.

I’ve been in this industry for almost ten years now, and I’ve adored every single family, every single baby, and every single couple along the way. My clients are the ones who have gotten me to where I am today. Their ever loving support and loyalty to my brand has kept me striving to charge ahead every day and continue working hard to keep my business going. There have been challenges and there have been times where I’ve wondered if I should give it up but it has always prevailed. In those moments of self-doubt, I think of the clients who have been with me since day one and instantly know that this is my calling.

I want the world to know that I strive everyday to create. I strive to create photographs that represent you and your family the way you see yourself and the way you see your family and with that, I strive to create joy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my all time favorite places to visit is Breckenridge. Up in this quaint mountain town, you have access to so many fun activities any time of the year. Main Street is lined with adorable shops with unique finds, the ski lodges are so romantic in the winter, and the hiking trails produce incredible views in the summer. It’s the perfect weekend get-a-way!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents have always been the most incredible source of support to me. They have always encouraged me to chase my dreams and work hard for my passions. They have always trusted my choices and helped me achieve success.

My friends have also always been by my side, encouraging my journey and giving me the best advice. They have always been my soulmates in that no matter where we are in our lives, we always come back to each other in the end. Lara, Amanda, and Tanya are the sisters I never had. So thank you girls for being my rock.
