We had the good fortune of connecting with Mariê Balbinot and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mariê, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I see my art as a tool to change society and this world we are all trapped in. Through my characters I seek to give back self confidence and power to every woman who has lost it or never had it. I believe art in general has the power to rise questions among communities leading us to wonder and discuss important topics. Besides appreciation, art comes to free us, to make us think, and also to change and grow as human beings. And this is what makes art so special!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I make art to survive in this heavy world. Everytime I draw, I`m building a new world, full of joy, confidence, gender equality, antiracist and a better place to be. It`s been 12 years I`m in this path of art, and for sure before I reached some success at it, as majority of artists, I passed through hard times. It was my faith which never made me give up, somehow I trusted myself. As an optimistic person, I believe if you love something you should pursue it and trust it, sooner or later it will happen! I am a woman of faith and I believe my art can change the world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Surely I`d take people I love to art galleries, cafes and bars; cause there`s nothing better than appreciate beautiful things of life with a cup of black coffee and have some fun, right?

Everybody who supports me, specially my family and friends.
