We had the good fortune of connecting with Marko Zelic and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marko, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
To be completely honest, I’ve always liked the idea of being my own boss. So back in 2020 I was working as a head basketball instructor at one the local recreation centers, and while I really enjoyed being there I knew I can do so much more. I had feeling I can express myself better if I detach myself from someone else’s system and start something on my own. So starting my business was a clear path for me. I was thinking how much impact I can make, not only locally, but throughout the world with power of the social media. That gave me even more excitement to start with Zero Doubt Basketball. I was also thinking that once I establish myself as trainer, I would be able to take better care of my family and also spend more time with them. And lastly, it’s all about giving back to people and community. Being able to help basketball players all ages get better is a blessing for me and I will never take it for granted.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Zero Doubt Basketball is a business I’ve started in late 2020 with purpose of providing elite and highest quality skills training in Denver Metro area. I had desire to bring something new to Colorado basketball development world and introduce a different way of training. Of course starting my business wasn’t easy. I had to start from scratch since I’ve moved to Colorado in late 2018 and didn’t know anybody here. Process was slow, but I took pride in it knowing that one day I will establish myself and my brand and people will know about what I do. And that’s why I am proud of my journey, because I wasn’t born and raised in United States but still was able to find my spot here and grow as a person and business owner through many challenges. What I think separates me from others is the attention to details. I am super detailed when it comes to process of helping players get more skilled. Every little nuance matters to me when training. Further, I love investing in my continuous education in the realm of skills training. I always eager more knowledge so I can provide better service to my clients.
I want world to know that I truly care about every single person I am blessed enough to encounter on my journey. I always take care of my clients and make sure they are not only getting better as players but also as people. The message behind Zero Doubt Basketball is that all things are possible when people believe in their dreams and are willing to work hard to reach it. That’s the mentality. Having zero doubt that you will get to where you want to be!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I know this will sound funny, but I was just talking to my best friend from Serbia and was telling him how I have to show him Water World when he comes to visit me. I love how much fun I have every time I go there. Of course I would definitely head west and show him how beautiful Rocky Mountains are. That’s must! We could probably do an easy 14er too. I’m thinking Bierstadt is a good choice. When it comes to eating I would take him to few places. Some of those would be: Brooklyn’s Finest Pizza, Sushi Katzu, City O City, etc. Plus we all know there are many great food trucks around, so we’ll be checking those too.
For drinks we would go to either Avanti or Recess Beer Garden. I love the vibe of those places. I will make sure we visit Denver Museum of Nature & Science, and take a run at Washington Park. Further, I will make sure we take a light evening walk down 16th Street Mall to Union Station and enjoy those street artist performing. Of course we would also be seeing at least one Nuggets game. Seeing Nikola Jokic playing is a must when in Denver. All in all, I know that visiting Denver will leave a great impressions on my friend!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout story to 3 most important women in my life, My mom Rada, my sister Sladjana, and my beautiful wife Natasha. They are always there to encourage me when it’s needed and to push me to try my hardest. They have always believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself and will forever be grateful for everything they have done and still are doing for me!
