We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Bello and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I choose to go into Real Estate, I wanted to create a career that would allow me to raise my children when I had them while also being able to be involved in the industry. I choose Real Estate because it was a few weeks of classes with a sales license that had no cap on earnings. I had spent the last few years in outside sales and was able to see the direct correlation for what I was doing for their business that helped them grow and make more money, so I wanted to set out and create my own money for my own brand and business.
What should our readers know about your business?
I own and manage Motion Homes Group, a Real Estate company that is all cloud based so it fits into everyone’s schedule. I especially love helping moms create careers that they can be around their kids and even include their kids in sometimes! It was a little slower to begin than I had planned, but I kept waking up each day holding the vision in my head and asking to meet the right people and the right agents all showed up. We have 11 now and growing, I hope to reach 30 agents by the end of the year!
I learned along the way that the beauty is in the journey, it sounds totally cliché but I really have been taking the time to step into the moment I am in and really appreciate the beauty in the building blocks. I learned that things can either happen for your or to you and its a mindset shift from within that can start to change how the outside of things work.
I want the world to know that I created Motion Homes Group to create a space for agents to just be themselves and by working on improving themselves and their lives they will in turn create more businesses. I want the world to know that there are brokerages who care about their agents, don’t just see them as numbers, and that won’t take massive amounts of their commission checks.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We recently relocated to a more rural area of Colorado, the San Luis Valley and we think it’s the best kept secret from Colorado. It’s a little over 2.5 hour drive but the opportunity is endless. The first day we would have to go check out small magical town of Crestone, situated right in the hills of the Sangre De Cristo mountains. There are endless hiking/biking/ trails and after we could eat at one of the three small locally owned restaurants in the area – all very yummy!
The second day we would take a trip to the Great Sand Dunes National Park and my husband and I would take you to our favorite spots where the Medano creek runs in the summer and it feels like its just you on your own private beach. That evening we would grab a bite in Alamosa, we love the Mexican buffet at Cavillos!
The third day would be the pool day – Hooper has the hot springs pool that’s open year round and is always somehow the perfect temperature. The pool has two areas, one main area for the whole family with a large pool, diving boards, hot pool and a Casual style restaurant. In the Greenhouse you can enjoy an adult beverage or something from the inside restaurant too.
The fourth day we would drive west and experience the canyon and the petroglyphs – the rock formations stay so warm in the winter you can even sometimes see tiny lizards!
And you couldn’t visit the valley without a stop at the Alien Watchtower or the Gator farm. The San Luis Valley is one of the best spot to see the starts at night – it truly feels otherworldly!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I had a wonderful broker by the name of Gabe Gonzales. Like most agents my first few years were sort of rough and hard to focus, there is a lot coming at you when you become a Real Estate agent and the distractions can make it hard to focus on what you’re doing marketing wise – there is always a ‘shiny object’ around the corner trying to distract you. Gabe was incredible because he had come from a larger brokerage background, but he went and opened his own company in west Denver. I was part of the group that followed him a little after he opened it and it changed my business in so many amazing ways. He had a way of being able to explain situations without the drama and emotions, he could really help you help your client and yourself, and he was always very supportive and encouraging about my sales even when I was hard on myself. We lost Gabe in February 2021 and since then I wake up each day and strive to be 1/10th of the Broker he was for me.
