We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan McConnell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, how does your business help the community?
My therapy practice is centered around helping individuals heal from trauma. I firmly believe that when we do the work to heal our pain, we are able to show up kinder, softer, and more engaged for others and for our communities.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My therapy practice is called Inner Abundance Counseling. I named my practice intentionally to reflect my belief that each of us contains deep wisdom, resourcefulness, and self-knowing that we sometimes just need help accessing. I am proud of how much thought and effort I have put into creating a healing and empowering therapy experience for my clients. I consider everything from my responsiveness to outreach, my website and office space design, how I center my clients as the experts of their experiences, and how I take care of my own nervous system so I can be a grounding presence for others. I think these details make a big difference and that people feel it when they work with me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would have to start at least one day at my absolute favorite bakery in the city, Getright’s. Some of my other favorite eats are Odie B’s, Major Tom, Cart Driver, and Safta. I also love Vin Rouge for a glass of wine and Semiprecious for a cocktail. I would take them to a yoga class at my go-to studio, Better Buzz Yoga. And of course we would spend lots of time outside – skiing in the wintertime (Winter Park is my preferred mountain day-trip distance from Denver) or hiking (anywhere in the Indian Peaks Wilderness).

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have been fortunate to have wonderful supervisors and mentors throughout my career who have helped me hone my clinical skills and find my voice as a therapist. I would also say my clients continue to be my greatest teachers. I am often moved by their courage, vulnerability, and strength, which inspires me to be reflective about how I’m showing up to my own life.
