Meet Megan Walsh | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Walsh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
We’re often taught that artists “starve” and that it’s not a lucrative career. Since I discovered my passion for painting in high school, this has been the story I’ve been told and that I’ve told myself. It’s so easy to let our fears dictate our lives, but I knew that if I didn’t go after what I love I’d really regret it. So far, it’s been the BEST decision of my life. It’s empowered me to believe in myself, to push myself harder than I ever have before and has been incredibly fulfilling. I have a long road ahead of me and certainly don’t feel as though I’ve reached true “success” yet, but I know that believing in yourself makes all the difference in achieving goals. If you’re afraid to go after something, ask yourself why. Don’t let fear be the thing that dictates your future.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Hey there! I’m Megan. I’m a 25 year old mixed media painter from Massachusetts. I like to describe my style as expressionism meets surrealism; it’s vibrant, dreamy and filled with endless bursts of color. I love throwing around paint and making a mess in my studio, where you’ll find me getting lost in the dreamy worlds that I create.
Ever since I’ve discovered my love for painting about 10 years ago, it has completely transformed who I am as a person. I feel my passion for art is so strong because of how much it centers me, while continuously teaching me so much about myself. My studio is where I feel the most authentic, empowered, and inspired. We owe it to ourselves to pursue the thing that sets our soul on fire.
This past year people from all over the world have connected with my art, and it has been such an incredible experience! Although the decision to become a full-time artist was a bit scary in the beginning, I knew that I HAD to pursue this passion of mine. I’m no stranger to self-doubt. It takes believing in one false thought to derail you. Numerous times I’ve nearly surrendered to the fear of failure, but remembering my “why” always helps center me. Accepting that there will be plenty of failures along the way also really helps release any unreasonable pressure I may put on myself. We are all constantly learning and growing from our mistakes.
I strive to create art that radiates strength and hope. I want my paintings to remind collectors of the inner magic they carry each day. I believe that we all have something within us that guides us to our purpose each day. It’s a beautiful thing that we can express so much without words. I’m so grateful that I get to call this my job and to connect with more incredible people around the world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite thing to do is grabbing an iced coffee with a friend and exploring fun, unique shops around the area!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Doing the Mastery Program at Milan Art Institute completely changed my life! It gave me so much confidence to go after my goals. I’m so grateful for my incredible family and friends that have been endlessly supportive of my dreams and are constantly motivating me to be the best version of myself.
