We had the good fortune of connecting with Micah Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Micah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I always knew how to stay fit even before instagram and before I decided to try and build an image but I didn’t have a reason initially so I just started trying to build clout for the most part. After some time went by, I realized that some people actually make a living creating content. I always had a passion for creating art and making people feel a certain way about my content, so i decided how to monetize it, aka, monetize myself as my own brand. If people wanted to pay to see me create my art and also learn how to develop themselves and get in shape, i figured I would find a way to monetize it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe my content is literally whatever comes into my head and not what I believe other content creators want to see. It’s genuine and a real reflection of who I am. Im more so proud that I stay true to myself vs listening to what brands and other companies say. If I wasn’t doing something I love, the way I want to, then I dont believe Im accomplishing the purpose of why I started my own brand. I believe it’s very hard not to give into the temptation of trying to conform your art to what is trending, but I could honestly care less about what’s trending because its not necessarily me. If everybody is doing the stanky leg, but I feel like deep down inside I want to do the worm, then gosh darn it I’m doing what is in my heart! It’s so hard to lose yourself in the spiral of these social media platforms, ya know?
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, I would recommend we meet halfway and go to Japan(its not actually halfway but I would find a way to convince him geography has somehow changed). Japan is where I feel at home and the culture is almost other worldly. We would eat sushi-go-round first before we even got to get rid of our suitcases. Tokyo, is more like a prefecture than a city, especially since it’s a lot larger than what they showed us in Tokyo drift. Shibuya crossing is definitely the go-to spot to show somebody for their first experience. I remember when I first visited the crossing, my friend had to hand me a napkin because I was drooling at the sheer organized chaos that was going almost like second nature to the natives.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to my parents and sister. Without them, I wouldn’t be the person and character I am today. They encouraged me, to be myself while also representing myself as a gentleman and inspiration to others.
