We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Lloyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Financial freedom and generational wealth. It’s what I work for every single day. I strive to be able to provide my family with opportunities to be what ever it is they want to be.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I would say what sets me apart from other artist is the manner in which I express myself on canvas. With little to no formal education in Art I feel my style is natural. Not influenced by any institution or professor.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’’d take to them to Cross Bronx pizza in The Bronx. So we can enjoy the largest slice of pizza on the planet. We’ll def have to smoke a Jay in central park and union square park just to enjoy the ambience and vibe. Nightcap would have to be heading to Bushwick, BK for the bar scene and to take in those amazing murals!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost my Rose. My beautiful mother, my earth. She’s my heart in human form. I just want to give her the world because she deserves nothing less for being the amazing mother she is. She’s my super hero, always has been and always will be.
My soul, Arianna. My soon to be (already is) Wife. The joy she fills me with when I look at her is indescribable. I cherish her so much for her loyalty, support and how she has always stayed by my side no matter what.
My Big brother. Sensai. My older brother Haddy showed me the way. Always lead by example and always told me when I was wrong or needed to do better. The lessons, spontaneous slap boxing matches and everything you did for me throughout my journey I will forever cherish. Am I my brothers keeper? Yes I am.
To my nieces & nephews! Rrie’l, Amari, Emmy, Gracie and Haddi uncle loves you more than he’ll ever be able to express. There isn’t a second that goes by when you’ll aren’t in my thoughts.
Now, last but not least. My grandmother and Auntie Loki! My auntie Loki still see’s me as her lil Mikey and continues to check up on me to this day! During a majority of my childhood she was responsible for me and always made sure I was safe. I can hear her scream “Mikeeey” as I write these words.
Grandma, Grandma! The rock of entire family. The glue of it all. She has seen so many of us grow up and has watered all of us from the time we were seeds. Just don’t get on her bad side! Or you’ll sure as hell be picking out a switch for that ass! I love you with all my being Grandma! Thank you for always nurturing.
