We had the good fortune of connecting with Michal Mlot and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michal, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
There was a lot of risk involved in this project from the beginning, including financial, personal, career, and life risks taken over the first few years. I view risk as a natural part of human progression—something we must embrace to move forward in life. Simply put, without risk, there’s no reward. As humans, we all need to take some form of risk to achieve the things we desire and want in our lives.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art consists of electronic music in various forms. Over the years, a lot of experimentation took place to bring the project to where it is now. The styles of electronic music explored include dubstep, trap, rap, drum ‘n’ bass, house, and many more. What sets this project apart is the constant experimentation, both in the studio and during live performances. It took a lot of trial and error over the years, but this process has made the project tangible to many who have witnessed it. It was never easy, but somehow always felt natural. Overcoming challenges like self-comparison, ego, imposter syndrome, and criticism—often self-inflicted—was never simple, and these struggles still arise today. However, you learn that dealing with these challenges helps shape your art into what it can be.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If someone is visiting, there are plenty of places I love to recommend. For food, I’d probably start with Cuba Cuba for some Cuban cuisine, or if it’s sushi they’re after, Mizu Izakaya in the Highlands is my go-to spot. Breakfast at Jelly or Syrup is always a hit. One of the must-visit places is The Black Box in Cap Hill, the electronic music mecca of the West. This spot is truly special because it’s always been a key venue for underground sounds—it’s a must-see. For hiking and nature, Red Rocks is always a great, scenic spot for visitors, even on non-show nights. Corwina Park in Evergreen is still one of my favorite hikes. There’s really no shortage of things to do or places to see in Denver.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are many people in my life who deserve massive shoutouts for helping this project reach its current stage. First, I want to thank my family for putting up with me over the years—doing music, playing drums, and making a massive amount of noise all my life. A special shoutout goes to my former colleague, Mario, for helping me start and build this project over the years. I also want to recognize my management team, Franz and Ashley, who are always working tirelessly to keep projects on track and ensure everything gets done. A huge thank you to everyone mentioned on this list—without them, the project wouldn’t be where it is today.
