We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Betz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle, what do you attribute your success to?
I believe the most important factor in success with your business and brand, is ambition and dedication. There is a lot of back hand work that goes into creating your own business and growing it. You have to be self-motivated to get things done. Also, I believe in dedication to always keep growing and improving by practice, and additional education.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love photography that is pretty, sharp but soft, and true to color. I love catching little love moments in action and freezing it in a photo. To get to where I am today took a lot of practice, improvement, and genuine care for my clients. It has been easy in the way of getting clients for photoshoots/weddings. But hard in the way of personal boundaries and not feeling burnt out. I have learned to limit the amount of bookings I accept – especially in busy season. I have also learned to only accept booking that I love – such as families, weddings, and elopements.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take a friend visiting to Garden of the Gods, and Red Rocks for some epic mountain hiking. I would also take them to the Cheyanne Mountain Zoo. To hang out, I would take a friend to the Upper Highlands area for some good food and drinks.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would say the first person that has helped me tremendously is my husband, Ryan. He always supported my endeavours, said my photos looked pretty in the beginning when they probably did not, and praised any success that I had. Without his support, I probably would not have started my business to. begin with. Secondly, Ashlee Kay Photos beginner photographer course was the perfect start to learn the basics.
