We had the good fortune of connecting with Molly McGrath and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Molly, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
The best decisions I ever made as a parent was hiring a life coach for my teenage children beginning when they were in middle school. We have to remember we are raising adults. My children; freshman in college and sophomore in high school, have had a coach since they were in middle school. I don’t know how they would have navigated the global pandemic without the tools they were armed with to deal with massive change, uncertainty and unpredictability. Investing in a coach for tweens through college years is no longer considered a luxury, it’s a necessity. As a parent, it is more crucial than the extracurricular activities previously intended for “Keeping the kids out of trouble and centered.” 2020 has shed the flood light on the need for our children to have the life skills for flexibility, self-governing resourcefulness, confidence building, focus management and navigating unpredictability. Finally, a widespread global awareness in the gaping hole in today’s youth and the recognition on the positive impact of coaching in instilling confidence, habits, personal boundaries, goals and friendship skills. Coaching for my kids- has successfully brought about sustained personal growth. The pandemic has brought to mainstream media that no longer does there need to be “something wrong” with your child before hiring the services of a life coach. Nowadays “Kids Coaches” deal with many issues such as positive friendships, bullying, low self-esteem, awareness of how others view them, divorce and positive thought among a whole host of other topics. Our coach, “Coach Cary”, has supported and worked alongside my kids, working to reach goals and solve problems. She has supported me in empowering my children to learn important life skills such as taking responsibility, respect, communication and self-care. Coaching for my children made my role as a parent so less challenging in the modern-day world – and my kids are growing up into the most extraordinary adults because of the investment in “kids coaching”.
